Yes, I have all the info on Robert. He is my g grandfather. I have been to his cemetery an dhave pics too. I have joined the Wetherington/Worthing email group. The farther back I go, the more different ways I have to spell it: Witherington, Widderington, Worthington and Wetherington. My uncle Shep lives accross the street from that cemetery. What other cemetery are you talking about? Where is it? >Regarding the family name: I know a lot of people stick with one >spelling only. The August 1999 quarterly featured Great Swamp Church. So I was wrong that it was Flat Swamp that was written about. According to notes of LIll Jackson..Flat Swamp on Pitt-Martin line was organized in 1776 as a branch of Toisnot Church in Edgecombe County. First pastor was Jonathan Thomas. Mr. Jackson states that Skewarky (Martin), Little Conetoe (Edgcombe), Great Swamp (Pitt) and Conoho (Martin) were branches of Flat Swamp. It joined the Kehukee Association in 1782. From 1800 to 1803 145 member were added. Luke Ward was pastor. In 1805 it had 93 members, in 1819 45 members in 1831 92 members and in 1834 83 members. THOMAS E. CHANCE on Nov 30, 1850 gave a deed for the Baptist church known as Flat Swamp. Ervin Page and James Brown were deacons and trustees. This was taken from LIll Jackson's brief notes. He did this on a number of Pitt churches. Some he even had notes of minutes.

Robert was born 4-10-1865 d. 10-15-30 his wife was Alice Andrews. I have not researched this family, can only give you info I found in cemetery. Regarding the family name: I know a lot of people stick with one spelling only. A cemetery in souther Pitt has the following spellings: WETHERINGTON, I. K. d. 1907 WITHERINGTON, JOEL K. d. 1931 WEITHERINGTON, FLORENCE d. 1882 Daughter of I. K. WEITHERINGTON Seems the stone cutter may have made a mistake. But notice the father died after the daughter and Joel died after both. Some have tied this name into the WORTHINGTONS. This is what makes it all so interesting in researching families.
The following report is being sent for Kathryn, whose father was hospitalized unexpectedly. We wish her well. Janice _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Good Day All, We had a great meeting this past Tuesday with over 25 people in attendance, including three guests. The majority of the meeting centered around "Picturing Pitt County," our photo-scanning event that will take place tomorrow. We want folks to come to Sheppard Memorial Library between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm with old pictures of people, places and things in Pitt County. We are creating a visual archive to add to our collection at the Library. We'll scan your pictures while you wait and give them right back to you. We are asking that local PCFR members wait and take their photographs to the May meeting. Eleanor will be there to scan yours then. For those of you who cannot make it to tomorrow's scanning session, and wish to send your photographs to us, Brenda will post her instructions for sending them again tonight. Folks are already asking when the next "Scanfest" will be. We'll make a decision about that after tomorrow's event and let you know. We do plan to be set up to scan photos at the reunion in October. The PCFR Board voted to purchase a Zip Drive for the computer at Sheppard Library. Eleanor will make this purchase for us. We plan to compile a new surname book for the year 2002. If you would like to be included in this book, please send your information to me no later than May 30 (earlier if possible). It takes quite a while to put one together. I need your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and surnames (no more than ten). My e-mail address is kdc@coxnc.rr.com. Bill kept Tuesday night's meeting short in order to give people time to share information and go to the History and Genealogy Room. As always, there was a lot of interaction and exchange of information. Our next meeting is the third Tuesday in May (May 21). We hope to see you there. Respectfully submitted, Kathryn D. Clark Recording Secretary DON'T FORGET SHEPPARD MEMORIAL LIBRARY TOMORROW!

A big thank you to Trish for answering my post and providing information to any who are researcing this family. A lot of good info with source. I have not researched this family. I learned about this cemetery from a lady who is interested in the Chauncey family. Since it was an unusal name I decided to post it. If you have a name that you need help with please post it. You may not always get an answer but it might help someone else. See my posting on Hosiery Knox and Argent Smith. Someone is looking this family I'm sure. So if you know something jump in like Paula Baker did and is trying to help. You might make a friend in the process. Bill
