Have you seen this site? Maybe it's yours. I remember hearing that the Tysons had a school in Pitt County, the Charles Tyson School? But it may have been later. Was there an orphanage or care center maintained in Pitt County in the 1820s (perhaps by the Tysons/Tisons)? Allen Tyson was apparently Lecitta's brother-in-law, not her father. Evidence shown: Deeds in Pitt County (from Ellison's abstracts): Thomas Carson to Licity Carson, dau., negro; Deed of Gift; Wit.: Ritty Anderson, Ben Tison. [Pitt Db. BB, p. 244; July 24, 1818]. Ruel Anderson was executor for Thomas Carson, dec'd.; to Rebekah, widow, a negro for $176; Wit.: Cinthia Sanders. [Pitt Db. CC, p. 97; Mar. 2, 1821]. (Note: wife was Rebecca Anderson; she died 1842) In 1827, the estate was divided between three daughters: Elizabeth Norvel/Norville, Lecitta Baker and her husband John, and Sally Tison and her husband Allen [Pitt Db. EE, p. 95, Feb. 1827]. And then... 1850 Census, Pitt Co., Anderson's District (see online): In 1850 John T. Baker is head of household containing what appears to be his siblings: Cleodicia (19), Allen (17), Absaley (13), Sarah (11), Ivey (8), and Jesse (6). --Betsy Ross ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Paula Baker" <paulabaker69@hotmail.com> Reply-To: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com To: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NC-PCFR] Lisetta Tyson/John B. Betsy, Thank you so much for all of the time that you spend on PCFR's website. I don't know how you do it in additon to your full-time job. The new updates are just great. Thanks to Bill Bland and Annette Roebuck for the valuable information that you contributed. I would appreciate it if you would look up the family of Bill Jim Register or William James Register. He had a daughter named Lillie Mae b 1871 that married Benjamin Spurgon Melvin b 1857. Wm James Register's wife was Margaret Ann Wilson also of Bladen County. B Spurgon Melvin was son of Daniel Marshall Melvin and Barbara McCall. I do not have anything else on the Registers or Barbara McCall. This is some of my husband's line. I really appreciate it when you can find time to search. I know it takes time. God Bless Linda Melvin
----- Original Message ----- From: Patsy J Evans To: Janice Tripp Gurganus Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2002 1:37 AM Subject: James Speight cemetery The newly posted list of gravestones in this cemetery do not give birth and date of death of Lemuel Britton who is buried there. My dates read born Sept 1, 1799 and died October 30 1871. Also according to my Aunts Dorothy James Fleming of Belhaven and Ruby James Finch of Greenville and James Carson who lives just a few miles north of the James Speight Cemetery, there are 2 unmarked graves there. One is my father's youngest brother who died in 1925 at about 6 weeks. His name was Gene and his twin sister Glynn Grey still lives in Parmele, N. C. The other is a baby or small child of Alice James Hardy and Albert Hardy. Alice James was sister to my Grandfather George James of Parmele, N. C. All 3 of these people agreed that these children were buried there. Please pass this on to Ann. Also, I would like to confirm the dates I have for Lemuel Britton if possible. Thanks, Patsy

Found a lull between annual report deadlines and final exams, so I've managed to prepare the PCFR web tables for Annette Roebuck's fantastic collection of cemetery records--contributed most generously and received most gratefully! Go to the "On Line Resources" page, and look under the "Cemeteries" heading for Annette's pages entitled "Gone But Not Forgotten." Thank you (!!) Annette. Many of my relatives were in northern Pitt County, and I'm looking forward to some time to really dig into your newest transcriptions. PS: The May issue of the Quarterly is being proof-read and indexed, and is going to be another winner! William, Thank you for posting your information. I'm sure some of our members will answer you with information; I know some have Tucker information. Roger Kammerer published a book a few years ago that has a lot of Tucker information in it. He can be contacted at kammerer@hotmail.com; however, he checks his mail only on Sundays on a computer at the library, so bear with him. You were probably related to Ralph Tucker, recently deceased. I knew him from Wachovia Bank. I know he tied into the family who owned the land where the shopping center is. Who are your Gurganuses? Janice Tripp Gurganus
