    1. [NC-PCFR] Re: CSS Neuse on line - Re-building the old Lady
    2. Martha Marble
    3. Local efforts are underway to build to scale a replica of the CSA Neuse or as most of us call her - the Ram Neuse. As many of you know, the remains of the original are not going to be around much longer because said remains have not been protected. Effort to move her have not been successful because of a lack of money. Long story. Guy will link this on Special Projects on Dobbers but wanted to call this to your attention. Some of you who live close enough might find it fun to get involved in this project and of course, any donations to the fund - tax dedutible - would be greatly appreciated. It will be a wonderful addition to the history of the area. 3. Hiya J! Will try to do this--how much are you asking for postage? It would be better to put an exact figure on it, so they can write their checks precisely. I'm having a time of it, trying to clear out the detritus of both my life (20 years-worth), and Mother's (76 years-worth), without making a mess! I have a potential buyer for the house, but if he backs out, I need to keep the house looking good in case it has to be put on the market, officially. I've found amazing things in Mother's stuff, but just can't keep it all. My own stuff was purged somewhat when I bought this house, but Mother's stuff was brought to Greenville without much sorting. She was in the hospital at the time, and we didn't want to throw anything away until she could look through it--which, of course, never really happened. And I haven't even gotten to the attic yet! Gasp. Still, I'm looking forward to a new "life" in new digs, and am feeling really positive about the progress I'm making--slow as it is. 1. [NC-PCFR] Genealogy Society for Greene, Lenoir, and Jones
    2. Brenda Stocks
    3. Yesterday Roger Kammerer, Bill Kittrell, Janice Gurganus and I met with Tracy Putnam, Thelma Waters, and Jane Phillips in Kinston at Tracy's home. Tracy is leading an effort to establish a new genealogical society for the tri-county area of Greene, Lenoir, and Jones counties. We discussed ideas concerning meetings (location, frequency, program, etc.), publications, projects, goals, necessary workers, publicity, and other general considerations. They will be working closely with the Historical Preservation Group in Lenoir County who have already accomplished some impressive projects. These include the recent symposium on the Civil War battles of Kinston and Wyse Fork that several PCFR members attended. Many of us at PCFR have family connections in these areas and are very supportive of this effort in our neighboring counties. If you would like to let Tracy know of your interest and support for this endeavor, e-mail her at nccuzins@hotmail.com Brenda

    2. Brenda Stocks
    3. The Reunion date has been set for October 11th and 12th. Start making your plans. This is always a fun and productive weekend. It will be held at Hooker Memorial Church again in their Activities building. This is the same location as last year. We will be posting more information as plans are finalized. For those of you who live out of the area, we will also be posting information about local accommodations. Friday will be a day of info exchange and access to our vertical files. Transportation to and from Sheppard Memorial Library and Joyner Library at ECU will be provided. For those who would like to do so, we'll meet for dinner Friday night at a local restaurant. Saturday is usually a day for information exchange and research at the Reunion site. The registration fee will be $15 per person. This includes coffee and doughnuts both mornings and a catered lunch on site Saturday. For those who would like to add their family photos to our photo archive at Sheppard Memorial Library, we hope to be scanning these photos at the Reunion. This description of the weekend is based on what we have done in the past few years. I will keep you posted as we develop the plans for this year. As soon as this planning is complete we will start taking reservations. This notice is just to confirm the date so you can plan your Fall calendar. If you have any immediate questions, contact Janice jtginnc@cox.net or me bstocks@cox.net Brenda

The bottom link is the main page. I use gendex when I can't find anything at the LDS site or rootsweb. You don't have to join anything to use the biggest part of it. I'm not a member. 2. Elizabeth Ross
    3. With a public (as well as private) apology to Tracy Stancill for such a long delay, his marvelous photographs have finally found their way into the PCFR Photo Album. They'd been "lost" for quite a while in one of my "jammed" inboxes, and I only got to them this week! They're great pictures of Stancills and Meekses--gotta see 'em. Go to Album Pages 21 and 22 and enjoy. Thank you, Tracy! Also updated the PCGQ Tables of Contents to include the May 2002 issue, and corrected some out-dated email addresses, particularly those at cox.net. Due to the fact that I'm up to my earlobes this summer with selling-buying-packing-purging-moving houses, I won't be able to contribute much for the duration. Roger and I have finished the August Quarterly, well in advance, knowing that my computer may be off-line at the critical moments! It's another beauty--as always, Roger outdoes himself. Thank you all for your patience during my down times. Being a part of this group is one my greatest pleasures. I'm still here!
