Here are some early Moyes. I'll look to see if I can find some even earlier. I think a George Moye may be the earliest Moye. I saw a Wyatt Moye in Greene, I think pretty early. Then I saw online on one of the deed info pages for Pitt that Wyatt Moye was a son of William Moye. Don't know if Calvin from Greene was a brother but Calvin and Wyatt are listed together in Greene in 1820. Hope this gives you guys some clues. Back in June I asked if there was anyone down there in Pitt County who could do a huge favor for me. I know that June and July are very busy times for all of you and I am sure that that is why I have not had any responses to my request. I have an ancestor, JOSIAH WRIGHT, who died in the Greenville area in Feb. 1792 and is buried in the Cherry Hill Cemetery. He is my brick wall. I do not know the year he was born or the names of his parents. IF I knew the year he was born it would help me immensely & might break down that wall. What I am hoping for is someone who could dig around the front of the stone to find out if either it had a birthdate for him OR tell his age at death. I would be willing to pay you to do this for me and would be eternally grateful! Oh, one more question - could someone give me the address of the Pitt Co. Genealogical Society, please? I have just completed a book on my Wright Family Genealogy and Allied Families and would like to give a copy to your society. Thank you so very, very much. The August Quarterly has been taken to the printer. This will be a new experience. Accucopy will be printing, packaging and mailing the Quarterly. We hope this works well, since this method will relieve Janice and some other local members of a lot of hard work related to getting the Quarterly mailed. Enclosed in this package with the Quarterly will be the Newsletter, a registration form for the Reunion weekend, and a ballot for the election of officers. Regarding the ballot, every nominee was included on the ballot, except for those who would not consent to run for the position for which they were nominated. It will take at least a week for Accucopy to print and package the Quarterly for mailing. Hopefully you will be receiving yours within a couple of weeks Brenda

Hello Priscilla, I printed a copy of your post to take to the PCFR meeting next week. Not all of our members are online. Maybe someone there might be able to check your Josiah Wright's tombstone for you. Thank you for offering a copy of your book Wright Family Genealogy and Allied Families to PCFR. Generous researchers like you are helping us build a wonderful collection of local history and genealogy resources at Sheppard Memorial Library. The address for PCFR is: The Pitt County Family Researchers, Inc. P.O. Box 20339 Greenville, NC 27858-0339 Thanks again, Brenda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Priscilla" <pwh@nconnect.net> To: <NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2002 3:19 PM Subject: [NC-PCFR] Josiah Wright Tombstone > Hello there! > > Back in June I asked if there was anyone down there in Pitt County who > could do a huge favor for me.
