Lisa, you on the right one. The note I had from someone else showed Thomas's wife as Sarah Avery. The birth date you have for him matches mine but another researcher had 1849. I had him as son of Burton Haddock. Thanks.
Don't know about a connection with the Wilsons. THe Thomas Moye listed below is an unknown at least to me. His Will at the archives is strange. He mentions three children - all boys and originally the surname was written in as Moye. Two of the boys surname is marked through and Phillips is inserted and the third one was left as Moye. Most of us are of the opinion they were all three his step sons indicating he had married a Phillips widow. Don't know where he came from and it is possible he was part of this family but nothing in the records to even suggest it. Roger might have found something. Is there a relationship between the Moyes and the Wilsons? I have picked up a bunch of records of Moyes on Wilson records. Here are the earliest in NC. REBECCA BRASWELL mentioned below m. Bill, Same your post and it reminded me to contact you. I was at a McGowan family reunion in July and my grandfather's cousin, Lucille Diener, told me to write to you. She told me you had given her some info. I was wondering if you could write me, so I could ask you a few questions. I found one McGowan in the Evans/McGowan Cemetery that I can't place to his family. I am forwarding this letter for Frances, could anyone help her on her family? Lisa I am researching the Norris, McGlawhorn and Tripp families from Ayden, NC in Pitt County. Just this past week, I drove to NC to the courthouse in Greenville, but did not have a lot of time to spend there. Wondering if you could give me some hints. The McGlawhon family???? I am researching Addelaide or Addie who married Ben Norris 9-10-1881 This name is spelled so many different ways. Also, I notice that there is only one Norris listed in the old census records - John Norris, does this mean that all of the Norris are descended from John ??? I am interested in Joe Norris who married Sallie Tripp (Barfield). Joe was the son of Ben and Addie McGlawhorne (Mcglawhon) Norris not sure of the correct spelling. Ben was the son of William Norris and Mary do not have her maiden name. I see an Ashley and a Redding Norris, do you know if they are related to William. If you can give me any leads on these families, would appreciate. Thanks Frances in VA
Thanks Paula Will add something else to the mix. Amos Evans' son shown on the 1880 census was Godfrey Amos Evans (G.A. as age 6) m. Ada Partick, daughter of James W. Patrick and Sarah Catherine Kittrell. Sarah was my grandfather Leon Louis Kittrell's sister. The older Amos Evans cemetery is on Hooker Road at the J. H. Rose football field. Godfrey Amos Evan' children lived on old US 264 (Dickinson Avenue Ext.) just west of Greenville.
This Amos Evans was born 1835 and m. Patience McGowan. He was son of Edmond Evans, grandson of Ephrim Evans. There were several Amos Evans in Pitt. Several marriages between the Evans and McGowan. Both Evans and McGowans buried in the cemeteries on NC 43 south of Greenville.

Amos Evans stops in Pitt in 1860. Could he have relocated to Beaufort? Do you need me to look at this census for you? Of course, would not answer your question about his boys. Janice, Many thanks go out to Paula and to you for the responses to my inquiry re Calvin Moye. I knew that Susannah Bell Moye's father was Balaam Bell but did not know that her mother was Penelope Turnage, so you have provided the name of another ancestor. Thanks a bunch. One of my third great grandmothers from Greene County was named Penelope Forrest. I had never known Penelope's maiden name until a newly discovered Forrest family bible record stated that Penelope Forrest's maiden name was Moye. From the census records I feel like I can safely determine that Penelope Moye, born 1820's, was most likely the daughter of Calvin and Susannah Bell Moye. One thing that makes that fall into place even more is that Penelope Moye Forrest named one of her sons Calvin.
