Yes it does. Our local Dails are out of Norfolk Co, Va. Abel Dail was the son of William Dail and appears to have moved to our area. But there was also a Paul Dail in Pitt Co. The name is in Norfolk Co, but not sure how William/Abel/Paul connect. More work needs to be done in Norfolk Co. Several of you have sent me various parts of the Dail family over the years from Greene and Pitt. My THomas, from whom I have a double line, moved to Duplin shortly after 1790 or so and then some of his line moved into Lenoir. I can't determine if my THomas moved from Pitt or Greene and Abel moved from one into Wayne and then into Duplin. Some of the names of Theophilus Dail bc 1825 in Pitt County are found in the family of Thomas of Duplin - including Curtis, and Thomas. What is the connection? And THomas and Abel of Duplin had a conveyance with THomas of Greene. The Jane on the 1850 Greene Census aged 95 that Linda just sent to me would certainly be a place to start. She was of an age to be the mother of several of the older Dails on that Cenus and of the same age as my Thomas. It seems to me that if all the available information on this family was in one place it might be easier to see to see the woods and where the trees might connect. Maybe it would be to everyones advantage to start a Dail Joint Project on Old Dobbers and see if anything shakes out. Such a project would require a project manager and I am not going to volunteer because already doing enough of them. It is a matter of co-ordinating with each other and with Tracy. Martha
If any Adams researchers find out any info on Abraham and Barthia, Bathia or whatever her name is, I would love to be kept abreast of that! Please keep me in mind. The August meeting of Pitt County Family Researchers was held tonight, Aug. 20, at Sheppard Memorial Library. We had twenty six people attending, including two visitors. Bill Moye, retired school teacher from Miami, Florida is visiting Pitt County this week researching MOYE, GRIMSLEY, TURNAGE, HEATH, BRILEY, WHITEHURST, and POLLARD. Gary Weissman, an English professor at ECU, was one of our visitors. He is a photographer and is researching the EVANS family whose cemetery is at the Colonial Mall in Greenville. Warren McRoy, our treasurer, reported we have a current balance of $3560.36. We have one more Quarterly to print and mail, one Surname book to print and mail, Reunion expenses( which the registration fee does not completely cover)to pay, and various office supplies to purchase. These budget items will cut our balance down to a few hundred dollars. Due to rising costs of printing, postage, and the cost of supplies, the surplus we have carried for several years is gone. Our exciting new project "Picturing Pitt County" is incurring some new costs for us also. In order to fund the budget adequately, the board voted to raise the annual dues to $30 per year beginning with 2003 (Jan.1,2003-Dec.31, 2003). We regret having to do this...this is the first time the dues have been raised since PCFR was started in 1994. Eleanor Allen is looking into applying for Grant money to fund some of our projects. She has a few sources to check out, and asks if any of you are familiar with any organizations that award grants please e-mail her with your suggestions. jallen@sprintmail.com Grant money would hopefully enable us to buy more new books and software for the history room at Sheppard as well as a second computer for genealogy only. We would also like to be able to subscribe to some genealogy databases such as Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com. The Reunion will be Oct. 11 and 12 at Hooker Memorial Church on Greenville Blvd. There is information about this event enclosed in your Quarterly package. Please return your registration form as soon as possible. Eleanor will be scanning your old photographs for the Picturing Pitt County Collection at the Reunion site on Saturday, Oct. 12. If you are planning to bring pictures to the Reunion, please e-mail Eleanor jallen@sprintmail.com and ask for a form to list your pictures and give identifying information about each photo. This will save much time on the scanning day if you have this completed form with your pictures. If you have any questions about the Reunion, e-mail Janice jtginnc@cox.net or me bstocks@cox.net Chris Oakley, sec. of NC Genealogy Society, announced their annual meeting at the Wake County Commons Building in Raleigh, NC on Nov. 8-9. They will feature two speakers, John Phillip Colleta and Jeffrey Haines. Registration fees for members $35, for non-members $50. For more information go to their website http://www.ncgenealogy.org Our next meeting will be THURSDAY September 19, 2002. We normally would meet on Tuesday the 17 but Sheppard Memorial is having some event that night, and needs the meeting room. The new Heritage Genealogy Society will have their first meeting on Thursday, September 12, at 7:00 in the Heritage Place Library at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC. This society is a joint effort of Greene, Lenoir, and Jones counties. If you are interested in joining this group you can download a form for joining and a query form at http://www.historicalpreservationgroup.org/genealogy/ Ann Johnson announced the Little Family Reunion Sept. 7, 2002 at 12:30 pm at the Kings Crossroad's Church at Falkland. This is the John Henry Little and Frederick Dinkins Little family. The 1930 census is now available at Sheppard Memorial Library. Great meeting! Brenda

Marilyn: Don't know. I remember my father who was born in 1897 talking about some uncles going to Georgia. Of course, I live in Georgia now and have been asked that questions by Adams families who live in northeast Georgia. I am new at this, and the only information I have comes from other people. Jesse Adams (born in 1810) is my great grandfather and comes from David (b abt 1772), Abraham (b abt 1740), Willoughby (b. abt 1715) and Abraham and Baritha (they came from Bath, N.C. I think). It would be great to find where Abraham and Baritha came from (England, I would guess.) Pitt County Family Researchers will have their August meeting Tuesday night, August 20, at 7:00 pm at Sheppard Memorial Library. The board meeting will be at 6:00 pm in the same meeting room. The August Quarterly was mailed today. Included with the Quarterly is a newsletter, a ballot to be filled in and mailed back for the election of our officers, and a registration form for the annual Reunion on October 11 and 12. Those of you who are planning to attend the Reunion can bring your old family photographs if you would like to have them scanned for our Picturing Pitt County Project at Sheppard Memorial Library. These pictures will be put on CD in a collection at Sheppard Memorial to be viewed on computer there. For the families who missed being a part of the collection of Pitt County families in the Chronicles of Pitt County, this is an opportunity to have your family lines represented in this photo collection of Pitt County families. If you need more information on the Reunion schedule or accommodations, contact Janice jtginnc@cox.net or me bstock@cox.net We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Priscilla Wright Hausmann for donating a copy of her new book Wright Family Genealogy and Allied Families. This book will be submitted to Sheppard Memorial Library this week and will hopefully be on the shelf in a couple of weeks. Brenda

Frances, I don't know if your Addie was married more than once. I have Adline McLawhorn who married Guss Hollowell. She was born in 1863 and died in 1905 parents were Harvey and Nancy(Edwards)McLawhorn from Pitt County. I have no info on a Norris. Linda FEONADORF@aol.com wrote:I am forwarding this letter for Frances, could anyone help her on her family? Lisa I am researching the Norris, McGlawhorn and Tripp families from Ayden, NC in Pitt County. Just this past week, I drove to NC to the courthouse in Greenville, but did not have a lot of time to spend there. Wondering if you could give me some hints. The McGlawhon family???? I am researching Addelaide or Addie who married Ben Norris 9-10-1881 This name is spelled so many different ways. Also, I notice that there is only one Norris listed in the old census records - John Norris, does this mean that all of the Norris are descended from John ??? I am interested in Joe Norris who married Sallie Tripp (Barfield). Joe was the son of Ben and Addie McGlawhorne (Mcglawhon) Norris not sure of the correct spelling. Ben was the son of William Norris and Mary do not have her maiden name. I see an Ashley and a Redding Norris, do you know if they are related to William. If you can give me any leads on these families, would appreciate.
