    3. Hi Betty, I just became aware of this connection recently. I will go back to my newsletters. thx. My gg John Henry Little, Sr, son of Frederick Dinkins Little, Sr, son of Jesse Little, (son of Amy per db noted in Kinsfolks of Edgecombe County), son of Abraham Little and his second wife Amy Llewellyn, dau of John Llewellyn (Per Llewellyn Family website). Is this enough info. I have lots, of course. We had the Little reunion Sept 7 at Kings Crossroads FWB Church. It was great. We invited for the first time some siblings from one gen up that I had located. It was great. We took a scanner. Everyone was encouraged to bring pictures, clippings, etc. to copy. The things we learned. The pictures of ourselves as children and our parents as children that some of us had never seen. It was fabulous. thx for your help. bb ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rea11bak2gen@aol.com> To: <NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 23, 2002 7:15 PM Subject: Re: [NC-PCFR] Thomas Wallis in Pitt County: cv1langley@apl > Brenda give me a little time and I will see what I can find on this. Jane sent this note this morning and we thank her for bringing this serious matter to our attention. Being rather passionate about my BBQ I have already voted and will vote each day. Thanks, Jane. It may seem trivial to some, but there is media battle taking place over Western BBQ vs. Eastern BBQ. The NC Division of Tourism has a BBQ Poll on their web site to settle the question of who has the best BBQ in the state of North Carolina. The Lexington CVB is working with the Greensboro newspaper to run an "election" story of Western BBQ beating Eastern BBQ. There will be a full blown statewide and national advertising campaign run by the Lexington CVB if they win! Please take a moment to vote for Vinegar vs. Tomato Sauce. This would be embarrassing for us to lose to Lexington BBQ. You can vote once a day until October 1st. 2. If you are not familiar with the term warrant, it is simply a legal direction to a surveyor, granting him the authority to proceed with the survey of the land in question. http://genealogy.about.com/mbody.htm Go to this site and click on Land Records, there will be several site listed. Look until you find the one dealing with land grants and it will tell you all you need to know about deeds and grants. 2. I think you are looking at a warent that is like a deed warent for land ,other warents are like when the British or Tores put a warrent on you head because you were for the U.S.A to be free from King George . the letter D must mean like a deed warent to the creek so that you own the land and water way for your crop,s . Hope you can understand the word warrent .If not you might try a Layer and see if it is a court patment warrent from the two people. think of you being a jury and getingt paid with land that is just 0.25a acer and tobbacco is your gold in that time.

I found the listing below in the McKeel Cemetery in Greene Co. This must have been a relative. He would have been born about 1833. Does anyone know the lineage of this earlier Birt Tyson below? 3. I am doing some research on a Thomas Wallis in Randolph County, N. C. and found this info in some land records, "On 22 October, Samuel Swearingen Jr. sold 159 acres of land to Thomas Wallis of Pitt County, North Carolina for 55 Pounds. This land was located on the Autry's Creek at the mouth of Hurley's Branch adjoining John Corbutt and Samuel Williams, it being part of a deed he purchased from Lord Granville bearing date 3 November 1761. " Unfortunately I don't have the date of the transaction recorded. I am wondering if anyone on the list has any information on this Wallis family? I also have another question on this information that I have "D80 [Warrant] issued Aug 2, 1797; Thomas Wallis enters 150 ac of land in Randolph County on waters of Big Brush Cr bounded by his own line, John Cruthers, & William Darbyes beginning and running for compliment; Mar. 12, 1796." What is a Warrant? Can someone explain what this Warrant would be and where can I find it? Would it be of Genealogy interest? Mell

Our regular meeting night would have been Tuesday Sept. 17, but Sheppard is having an event that night and needs the conference room. In October, we do not have a regular meeting because we have our annual meeting and Reunion on Oct. 11 and 12 at Hooker Memorial Church. The meeting seems to get better every year! I have met a lot of friends over the years at this meeting. Some I only see once a year at the Reunion. This makes it a very special weekend for me! Some members are already mailing in their dues for the year Jan. 1, 2003-Dec. 31, 2003. Whenever you do send your check for 2003, please remember the dues have been increased to $30 starting in 2003. As I explained in an earlier newsletter, this increase is necessary to cover ever growing printing costs and postage. This is the first increase in dues since our inception in 1994. Several of our local members attended the first meeting of Heritage Genealogy Society at Heritage Place Library in Kinston, NC last week. This group is researching Greene Co., Lenoir Co., and Jones Co., NC. They certainly had a great first meeting with about forty people present.
