    3. The line of Thomas Hardee and Sarah Croom has been posted on Old Dobbers http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paday/dobbers/index.htm Joint projects. We are all of the opinion this line was out of Pitt Co and although it has always been written that the husband of Sarah Croom was Joseph Hardee, we think he was Thomas and may have been the son of Joseph of Pitt. Just can't prove it. Nor can we figure out what the relationship between Joseph and Col John was but more than likely a cousin. Some of this line moved back into Pitt Co but sorting them is another matter. Martha

    1. Re: [NC-PCFR] Sheppard Memorial Library
    2. Rena, You will be coming into Greenville on Highway 11 from Kinston. This is Memorial Drive. As you get into Greenville, on your left, you will see Sam's Club and then Pitt Community College. Another ~1 1/2 miles further you will see Carolina East Mall on your left. As you pass the Mall you will come to an intersection where Greenville Boulevard crosses Memorial Drive. On your left will be Bob Barbour Honda and on the right the Chrysler dealership. TURN RIGHT here. This puts you on Greenville Boulevard. From here go to the FOURTH stoplight and turn LEFT. This will put you on EVANS Street. Just before you get to this light, you will see Circuit City on your left and Best Buy on your right. Once you're on Evans Street, continue North until you get to the FIFTH Stoplight. You will then be at the intersection of Evans Street and Reade Circle. Diagonally across the corner will be a very large building. This is Sheppard Memorial Library. You will turn LEFT on Reade Circle and the Library Parking Lot will be on your immediate right behind the building. I hope this helps. In case I have miscounted the stoplights, watch for the Street signs. Those, I know are right... I know they are open on Saturdays, but I do not know the hours. You can call the number I provided and ask. Good Luck ... Laymond Elks elksld@aol.com

    3. Hello Rena, You take Hwy 11 from Kinston right on up into Greenville, into the old "uptown" area. Hwy 11 becomes Memorial Drive. You will cross Greenville Blvd. and Arlington Blvd. You will then come to a stoplight where Dickinson Ave. veers to the right just before you reach the stoplight. Go on Dickinson (don't go through the light) and continue on towards uptown. When you come to the stoplight at the intersection of Dickinson Ave. and Reade Circle, go through the light and immediately turn right into a large parking lot for Sheppard Memorial Library. Hope that makes sense. I would be happy for you to come to my house(right off Hwy 11 at Winterville...on your way) and I'll take you to Sheppard. It would be great to see you again!! Mr. Langley, if you could give us the name of the book or the author, it would be a big help. I'm not familiar with a book at Sheppard that deals with the Stokes/Stocks relationship. 2. Sheppard Memorial Library is located at 530 Evans Street in Greenville. This is near the downtown area. The phone number is (252) 329-4580. Evans Street intersects with Greenville Boulevard at the University Commons Shopping Center (Circuit City, Target, etc.). The Library is North of this Shopping Center. How well do you know Greenville? Do you need more directions? I will be glad to provide more information. However, you will need to tell me which direction you'll be coming from, to get to Greenville. Laymond Elks elksld@aol.com
