Pat, I am sorry to say I have not been into Martin county except for one cemetery on Martin-Pitt line opposite the Flat Swamp Church. Elton Hardy has done the work on Martin sites. We have a copy of his work in Sheppard Library but not sure if Robersonville cemetery is included. What names are you looking? Maybe can check his list next time at the library. My mind is like a sieve anymore. Is Bill Kittrell the one doing the info on the cemeteries? If so, Did he do Robersonville Cemetery? I have two people there I need lookups for. I just want to say thanks to everyone who worked so hard on the reunion, especially Bill Kittrell, Janice Gurganus, Brenda Stocks and Roger Kammerer. Even with the downpour, we had great research time and guidance. As usual, Roger was immensely knowledgeable as well as helpful and I understand that the group with Frank Clark was impressed with his help and knowledge as well. It was a fabulous success - again! Congratulations to the new Officers! The new officers for PCFR were announced at the Reunion this past weekend. They are: Vice President: Frank Clark Treasurer: Laymond Elks Board Member: Robin Nichols They will serve for two years. Other officers and board members are: President: Bill Kittrell Secretary: Janice Gurganus Board Members: Eleanor Allen Brenda Stocks Frank, Laymond, and Robin are all very loyal and active members. I think they will be valuable assets as officers and board members of PCFR. Remember that dues for 2003 will be $30 for the year. This is due by the end of January 2003. The dues you paid for 2002 cover you through Dec. 31, 2002. Brenda
PCFR had their annual Reunion last Friday and Saturday. We the largest crowd we've had in several years and everyone seemed to have fun and also get a lot of research done. Unfortunately Tropical storm Kyle blew in on Friday, making it a little hard to get around in Greenville that day, but the weather was much better on Saturday. It's always good to see so many of our friends and cousins at this event each year! Hope everyone found some new family information and had a safe trip home. Brenda
Hello, all. I have a William Knox who bought land in Martin Co. in 1834. I think from census records his father may have been a William Knox, Sr. in Pitt or Martin. Anyone have anything more on this? Thanks, Stephen Scurletis, St. Louis
Hello, all. I am trying to make connections in my Gurganus line. I have deeds from early 1800's showing that Noah Gurgnaus (my ancestor), Simon Gurgnaus and Benjamin Gurganus all bought land on Bee Tree Branch in Martin Co., NE of Bear Grass. I'm thinking this may indicate close relationship between these three. Noah is said to have been from Pitt county in his first deed, adn Simon seems too have some relation to a Ruben Gurgnaus of Pitt Co. There is also a Major/Mager Gurgnaus who bought land in Martin, and a Samuel who is listed on a very early census, but I have no idea how these two might fit in, either. Curious if anyone esle is working on any of these lines or can add to what I know. Thanks, Stephen Scurletis, St. Louis
