I am interested in the Williams family of Pitt Co, specifically, Edward and Tryphenia (Trefinia, etc. sp?)Williams and their daughter, Edna Williams (b. 1804). They migrated to Haywood Co, TN. in the 1820's. I would like to have any information on any woman named "Tryphenia" in the Pitt Co area. I am also interested in the Alexander Mitchell (b. 1722) family, who appear in Craven County in the 1790's (maybe earlier). This is the family that Roger Kammerer miraculously found earlier this year. to connect with my Hardy Mitchell (b. 1768), who first appears in Dobbs Co in the 1790 census. Today, I noticed that only one message out of 16 was still in my inbox after downloading mail. When I checked my deleted mail, everything from PCFR had been deleted automatically. I can't begin to guess why. I couldn't find any "guilty" words in the messages. If anyone has tried to contact me, please send a message directly to me individually. Perhaps the computer is confusing PCFR with another Pitt County oriented e-mail list that I blocked because of multiple viruses from that site. I'm going to check out that possibility. Thanks. Jo

Marilyn, Ann Johnson has researched the Little family extensively. We descend from Frederick Dinkens Little, b. May 1800, whose mother was Frances Dinkens, b. 1771, in Edgecombe County. Thanks...I need to revisit that bible. Sometimes when you let a record grow cold and then return to it, you see possibilities you missed the first time. My problem is that all branches of the family I am followiing had to pass muster before they were allowed to join the clan. They must have one of the most common surnames in the south and they must agree to using only 4 different given names no matter how many sons they had. HA! Pat, This is my fourth year on the board of PCFR and I don't remember this question ever coming up. These surname books we do every few years have not been for sale. They are more or less a "bonus" in addition to the four Quarterlies for our members during the year the book is compiled. I'll bring this up at the next board meeting. If we did include nonmembers in the book, we would have to make decisions on such matters as the number of nonmembers we could include (to limit the size of the book) and the cost of the book to nonmembers.
