    3. For members researching ancestors in the Gardnervile area of Pitt County, NC, some of your ancestors may have been affiliated with Timothy Christian Church ‹ STOKES, WITHERINGTON, GARDNER, MOORE ‹ just to name a few of the families in that area. Very sad news to report, but last night the little landmark caught fire. Only a brief note in the Daily Reflector today (12/8/02) > Church damaged in late-night fire > The Daily Reflector > > Fire destroyed a Gardnerville church Saturday night in the Swift Creek > Township near Ayden. > > Several fire departments were dispatched to a fire at Timothy Christian > Church, 9567 Gardnerville Road, at 8:07 p.m., according to a Pitt County 911 > dispatcher. Firefighters still were battling the blaze at presstime, and > further details were not available. I learned of it today during our service a Winterville. We were told that the church burned to the ground. Trish Worthington Cobb

    2. Brenda: Even so, by having the info on the web site it would only take running off the info, copying it and sending it only to members that specifically request it in hard copy form. We do this at our church - the monthly newsletter is distributed via e-mail/web site unless a member specifically requests that they receive a printed copy. Really cuts down on administrative costs. 3. Marjorie, If you could give the census data for Frank and Martha Adams on that 1860 Mississippi census, then we would know everyone's approximate age and it would be much easier to try to run a census search on the subsequent 1870 and 1880 censuses. Also, you said you HAD found great grandad Wm B. Adams on a later census- where and when was that? Two things to keep in mind. It is always possible that Franklin and Martha may have died before the next census, unless you already know otherwise. Also, the various census indices are far from perfect. Sometimes the names were misspelled by the census taker, and sometimes the person who transcribed the census misinterpretted the names. In those cases , just about the only way to try to find someone is to try more than one index, or to narrow down the location and do a page by page search. I'm sure that by now you are aware that the entire US Census of 1880 is availabe for free on line at www.familysearch.org This is a great research tool, is fully indexed and searchable. If you haven't already tried it you should check it out.
