    2. Dear Cousin I have a set of records that go back to the rev, war and Genral James Nelson was the Father of James Nelson the Father of Giles Nelson Genarel James Nelson was a Red coat that turned to the American way of life . the British army found out that Genral James Nelson Sr. had left them and was to be the major point to work with Washinton some and Thomase Jefferson ,now the Genral had James Nelson with him and he was vrought over to America and raised and grew up to be a REV. Min.man who was to sughn some two of three major Documents of the United Stsyes of America Laws .the King was to read the document,s and have all people to be hunted down like dog,s and Nelson was to have a set of Cannon,s fire at the house where he lived ,because the house was full of redcoats and now the family was to come south to North Carlina and settle in Pitt county and make no bosting for what they did .the two Family that married the Nelson Family out of Names and make them a safe haven were the Stokes and Hardee Family. the Nelson family was to have two son,s die at Infant,s and two Dayghter to marrie out and save the Family from the British . So now you know their are two James Nelson ans the Genrale is the father who came from Fngland And James Nelson in the son that had Giles Nelson the son of Pitt County Calvin James Langley ,

    3. Don't forget the PCFR meeting Tuesday night, Jan. 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the conference room at Sheppard Memorial Library. We've been having really good attendance and lots of information exchange and research. Get 2003 off to a good start by coming to the meeting; you might just make that connection that you've been looking for! You don't have to be a PCFR member to attend. Laymond, Eleanor, and I have been gathering names for the surname book and Eleanor has dedicated much time to this project and will probably have it done ahead of schedule, so send your surnames right away. It's already Jan. 19, so you have a very short time in which to get your membership renewal checks in. Remember that they need to be in by Jan. 31 in order to receive the February quarterly. Roger has just returned from a month visiting relatives in Texas and is geared up and ready to get this edition to the printer, so don't miss out on it! Thank all of you who have shared family information this past year. Sometimes we forget to say "thank you" to those who share with us. That's a small price for someone's taking the time to look up information, copy it, and send it to you. PLEASE remember to acknowledge that you have received the information. How many of us have sent information and wondered days, or weeks, later if it was received? It's such a letdown feeling to not have it acknowledged and to get a "thank you." Please let me know if your mailing address and/or email address changes. Our quarterlies are sent by bulk mail; therefore, they do not get forwarded if you move. We are going to have to start charging for the extra quarterlies that are mailed if you don't receive the ones that are sent due to your failure to let us know that your address has changed. Also, when a replacement is sent, please let me know whether you receive it. This will help me keep my records in good order. We are all volunteers and need your help in keeping our organization running smoothly. Thanks for all of your help and cooperation and I look forward to seeing many of you at Tuesday's meeting, and hope to meet many others of you soon. One person in particular was William Hardee, born in Pitt County date unknown, son of William Andrew and Everilla Woodhouse, husband of Nancy Stocks. He and Nancy married in 1776 and He died in Horry County, SC in 1827. I'll have to go over my notes and see what else I can find. Lisa

They were four pairs, mated as follows: William Harris and Sarah Coffee; Charles Hooks and AnnHunter; Jacob Monk and Sallie Wilkinson,Henry Maxwell and Margaret Hunter. At that time they all lived in the eastern part of North Carolina, except William Harris, born in New Bern, N.C.and Sarah Coffee, born in PrinceEdward County, Virginia who were then living in Middle Georgia ..." Uses anecdotal and historical data as well as genealogical to describe this family's Scotch-Irish origins, their sufferings and survival through the Civil War, and its more prominent members, including William HarrisCrawford, U.S. senator from Georgia, 1807-1813, who was Ambassador to France and candidate for U.S. President; William A. Harris, U.S. senator from Kansas; Andrew L. Harris, governor of Ohio, Thaddeus William Harris, who was founder of the Harvard Natural History Society, and Townsend Harris, who established the Free Academy, which eventually became the City Collegeof New York. A rich account. Perhaps most interestingis the discussion of Charles Hooks Harris' parole from prison at the end of the Civil War, returning to his native Tuskegee, Alabama and seeing about him the destruction of the Confederacy; slavery and the Civil War are discussed at length. 2. Dear Person You have got your self in a thing that will take all your spare time and you might wish to think of a way like useing a typr writer to make notes on ,like a Smith Carolia that has a disk drive and use you time very easy and don,t try to do all at one time lern to goto the court House and tax records and look up the Chruch records also and you will save a lot of head ackes and hard work ,think of what I say as a warneing and learn to do notes and what you know first and then go back very slow you will find out that you find out more than when you started.
