My earliest ancestor was Moses NESBITT (other spellings NISBET, NISBIT, NESBIT). He was born in either Pennsylvania or County Down, Ireland. Believed to have been married in Lancaster County PA about 1760/63 to Elizabeth McClelland, Daughter of William MCCLELLAND and Mary ROSS. Moved to Rowan County, North Carolina (present day Iredell County) in early 1760's. He settled on Reedy Creek of the Catawba River, southwest of present day Statesville (near Troutman) on land adjoining Samuel and Christopher HOUSTON who also came from Lancaster County, PA about the same time and to whom he may have been related. There are also connections to the BROWN (William) and IRWIN, families. I have no information on siblings of Moses or his ancestors. Looking for connections to any of these families of early Iredell County.
