To the list, I have plans to help a friend to survey and photograph the tombstones at several cemeteries in NC. What permission or permits do we need, to do this, and is it legal for us to post these names and photos of tombstones on the Internet? Any advice will be most appreciated! Arlene
If it's on private property, always get the owner's permission to enter and tell them what you are wanting to do. Most people are very helpful when asked and informed. Although I'm not an attorney and not giving legal advice, I'd think taking photos of a cemetery and publishing them on the Internet for others to enjoy is definitely legal. I've been doing it for years with several sites.
