I am searching for the above named cemetary. I heard it is in Spruce Pine area. Dont know for sure though. Most specifically, i search for the grave of my gr-gr-grandfather. JOHN MILTON MCCLELLAN -----born 1799--N.C. He dropped the first name of JOHN, and used MILTON on census records. I found him last, living in GRASSY CREEK DISTRICT at the age of 99---living in the household of his son JOHN MCCLELLAN-daughter- in- law HANNAH JOHNSON MCCLELLAN. On that years census the name was spelled wrong ( MCCLELON ). The Penley Cemetary may be located next to or behind a church that was built by the Rev. William Penley--also an ancestor of mine. PEARL MCCLELLAN , daughter of JOHN and HANNAH .who passed away about two years ago in SPRUCE PINE may be buried with many MCCLELLAN/ PENLEY/ BUCHANAN relatives. Sorry i can not help with more info. I was adopted as a baby and am tracing my biological family. I am aged 71, and i live in California, and can no longer travel and search for myself. Thank you for all you do for all of us. Wanda.

Happy 4th to Everyone! Nema & I have added a number of new cemeteries to our Cemetery Survey site: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~patrickfamilytree/ 1-Fairview Church Cemetery and Kimsey/Greasy Creek Church Cemetery, off of SR 30, nr. Reliance, Polk Co., TN. 2-Harshaw Chapel Cemetery in Murphy, Cherokee Co., NC is now complete. 3-The New Hope Cemetery in Ivy Log, the Negro Cemetery & the Old Blairsville Cemetery, in Blairsville, the Old Salem Cemetery in Choestoe, and the Confidence Cemetery in Young Cane, all in Union Co., GA. For any of you that have relatives in the Old Salem Cemetery, this cemetery has gotten very overgrown and unkempt. Two years ago, it was nice and clean, since then, trees have grown 3 feet high, and a lot of the stones are hard to find. And there are no Decoration Day flowers... Thank you for your continuing support of our website...Please sign the guestbook before you leave! Have you checked with other Primitive Baptist churches in the area? If the church does not have a sign, it may have gone under private ownership, and, if so, would be cared for by whoever bought it. Sometimes churches do lose their records. I am not a Primitive Baptist and have no relatives in that church. I am basing what I am telling you on my experiences with Methodist churches. Dear List Members, If you were effected by the Comcast buy out, then you need to read this, if not delete it. Just this evening, I have receive over 100 requests for me to change e-mail address to a Comcast address. Many of these requests mention multiple lists of which the sender needs their e-mail address changed. It will take me a good week or so to get through them all. My suggestion is; If you still have the ability to unsubscribe go to PASSWORD Central at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ type in your old e-mail address, and follow the directions. You will receive an e-mail from which you can unsubscribe. If you can't do this, then you will just need to re-subscribe with your new address and let the old one bounce off. To re-subscribe this go to John Fuller's mailing list site http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html or remember you can subscribe and or unsubscribe by sending only the word UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE to XXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM or XXXXXX-D-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM if you are on the Digest List. Naturally change the XXXXXX to the name of the list. If all else fails, contact me, but be understanding if it takes me a while to get to you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

ABSOLUTELY! I just made a revision. In case folks with recently-attained computer skills are unaware of the mechanics of finding stuff, let me elaborate. Databases are, for the most part, constructed like a spreadsheet table. Everything is catagorized by column/subject. When we search for a particular "key word, the process is greatly speeded up if parameters are provided. In some databases, the search for a single surnamewould ordinarily overwhelm the researcher. This database is being constructed in such a way as to provide a comprehensive amount of information. If you want to know how many men died of "chronic diarrihoa," in each and every prison. At least, that is my first goal. Any help on this project is greatly appreciated. If you haven't visited before, it's: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatawb/database.htm --Derick S.
