Just to let you know that now that we are on Rootsweb, and things seem to be going pretty well, I might add; there are a few differences that you might want to note. One major difference is that if you have carrier problems, ie: aol doing it's fun things, full mailbox, change of address, etc, you will be automatically dropped by the rootsweb computer after three bounces. So if you find yourself unsubbed, and you do not receive a message from me as to a reason, please resub yourself by going to http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/ . This is a web page for all of rootswehs lists. Very handy if you are loooking for a certain name. No more downloading of pages and pages of names. This (rootsweb) site also has info on becoming a listowner, and lots of other wonderful information. If you are experiencing any problems, please feel free to contact me. It sure is good to be back so quickly, and we all owe a debt of gratitude to Doc, and all of his helpers for doing this for us so that genealogy can go on. Thanks for being such great people, and being so nich to each other. It really is wonderful to have so many lists with so few problems. Let me know if I can do anything for you. Ann

Hi, I have been trying in vain for many years to find the ancestors of my gr.gr.grandmother, Mary NASH. I noticed one of the NASH brothers, Simon, had a daughter Mary. The only info I have on my Mary is that she married George KING, and they were living in Canton, NY in the 1860's. They had a son George Henry, b.1864, d.1926. Would you have any more info on Mary? Anything would be greatly appreciated. No, I don't know of a SWINK/Nash connection. But I've got a Henry O NASH who claims birth in a number of places but most often TN. Do you have a stray Henry lost? He was born about 1820-30's. Married in Tishamingo Co MS in 1853 to Nancy HILL. He may have been in TN on the 1850 census, can't prove it, living with a Tony Sellars. Anything familiar here? Rebecca in Cajun Country

This is my first venture at joining the NASH list--hope it works. According to family tradition, Capt. NASH was mysteriously lost at sea in the very early 1800s. Meanwhile, back at home in NC, Mrs. NASH was murdered. Supposedly Capt NASH's partner settled up his affairs by binding out to a GA plantation owner, the daughter whose name is unknown but could be Sarah or Elizabeth. We think she later married a GA man named COBB, but have no further information on her. Her brother, Samuel C. NASH was bound out to a sea captain. In 1816, Samuel married Nancy J. GRAY near Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co, NC. They had Sarah Elizabeth, Thomas C. and William Thomas while still in NC. About 1822/1823 the NASH family moved to Wayne Co, IN where the twins , George Washington (my gg grandfather) and Timothy G. were born. Next the family moved to Madison Co. IN where Samuel A., Nancy, and Stephen were born. By 1840 they were in Nodaway Co., MO. Does anyone connect to this family? Janet Sue MILAM 108 W. My Nash family was still in Ireland then. I assume you've checked the land records, county history, obits, census. Some libraries have maps of the townships, etc back then. I've even found my ancestors' address on local maps. Good luck on your search.
