    3. My great-grandfather was James J. Nash born 7/18/1859 (perhaps!); died 3/8/1924. He married Lulu Boody in Tekonsha, MI 3/23/1887. The story is that he ran away from his home in New York when he was "very young" and never mentioned his family again. The only clue I have is that on his second marriage license he listed his father as James Nash and his mother as Annie Seldon, both from Ireland. He stated that he was from Buffalo, New York. The wife of my grandfather's brother told me that he once told her that he had a brother William, and a sister Lauren. I have been unable to find records confirming this and it may, in fact, not be true. My grandfather was his firstborn son (born 8/20/1889) and his name was William Jay. If anyone has any information I would be most appreciative. Sandy Nash Blackburn

And by sending this out I will able to pinpoint bad addresses on every one of 16 lists I manage. You will excuse me for multiple posts if you are on more than one list. Any questions - please reply direct to me and NOT to the list. ---Begin Quote--- Juno died in an exquisitely messy way last night (Sunday night) Almost took down one of RootsWeb's two mail servers along the way, and they did briefly crash our mail hub machine twice. Karen and I had great fun. If the idiots had brain one, they should have dropped their net connection as soon as they realized they'd effectively deleted each and every one of their subscribers. Then mail would have quietly queued on remote machines all over The Net. (We could have held about 3 GB of mail for Juno in RootsWeb's mail queue areas if they had simply stopped accepting mail.) Instead, they stayed on The Net and bounced every piece of mail they received as "user unknown". *sigh* -B Dr. Brian Leverich Rootsweb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com ---End Quote--- -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ W. 3. Ira P NASH was an early settler of Boone Co MO and an interesting personality, generaous, pugnacious, and unconventional. Another researcher and I, neither of us relaated to him, have gotten so interested in him that we think we ought to write him up for the sake of local historians in MO. But it occurs to us to try to find out if anyone else is working on him. He was survived by three daughters and may well have numerous descendents. ARe any on this list? If so, please drop me a line -- He was from Fauquier Co VA, BTW, son of William NASH and Mary MORGAN. Alicia Towster aet@usl.edu

    1. Walker Nash, Anson Spring area north of Marshville, NC
    2. Kimberly and Brian
    3. Hello, I have been doing alot of research on my husband's Nash family and I ran across an old article talking about a Murder. From the area that the paper talks about I have to guess that this family is connected with mine and that the older relatives have cut this family out of any records. The paper mentions a Walker Nash having a son named Tom Nash who killed a lady he was seeing who also happened to be the mother of his child and had one on the way. There is also an Edith Nash and a Lovey Nash also mentioned in the story. This all happened in 1844. Here is a little of the interesting story. Patsy Beasly was murdered about 12 miles north of Marshville in a little finger of Anson a few hundred yards from the Union Co. line. According to the old people Tom and Patsy were "carrying on an affair" which resulted in the young women expecting another child. This was August of 1844, and Patsy had carried her small son, whose name has long been forgotten to a spring near the now abandoned Jesse Parker Store. She went to do the family wash. There is conflict about how long Patsy was missing before her body was found. The most of the old people in Union and Anson and Stanly say Patsy was missing for three days before her body was found in the woods near the spring. According to this version, her body was rotting in the summer heat and her infant son was found crawling around on the ground near the body of his mother. The abandoment of the little boy certainly seemed a factor in the public opinion which largely believed that "hanging was too good for the man who killed Patsy Beasly". Patsy had been shot, stoned and "stomped". Neighbors came in and built a rail fence around her body to protect it from the hogs that roamed freely in the country side because there was then no stock law. Legend says that the little boy was taken by a well-to-do family, was reared and became a very useful citizen. (this is neat) The Primitive Baptist minister was preaching his Sunday sermon at Jerusalem Church and he took the Patsy Beasly murder for his topic. Before opening the Bible for his text, he laid a rather large flint rock on the pulpit. As he unfolded the foul murder of Patsy Beasly, he suddenly seized the rock and said: "The man who killed Patsy Beasly is in this church house and I am going to smash his head with this rock" He picked up the stone and drew back his arm as if to hurl it. It was August and the windows were open. Young Tom Nash jumped through an open window and ran like a jackrabbit. Of course he was caught and found guilty of the murder, and he was sentanced to be hung in Troy on Friday, the 8th of Oct. 1847. The article came for Messenger and Intelligencer Wadesboro, NC 9-8-1971 some of it is missing incase someone could get me the rest of the article it might have more clues on who Thomas and Walker were related to. Hope I did not upset anyone by posting this but as you all know there is good and bad in every family. As a church sign I saw in Va this summer said. There is some sap in every family tree. Thanks, Kimberly Nash

    1. Nash, Sylvester, married to Lilly Beers in NY
    2. Kimberly and Brian
    3. Hello, I am looking for a Sylvester Nash who married my grandmother's aunt Lillian Beers. Sylvester was Jewish and his son Sylvester Jr. married a catholic and changed to be catholic. There was also a dau. named Angela Nash. The children would of been born about 1910 or so. My grandmother thought they were about 10 years older then herself and she was born in 1922. The family lived lin Glen Cove, Long Island, NY I am not sure if that is also where Sylvester Nash and his family lived. I would love to get in touch with a member of this family since I have now married a Nash and think it would be neat to see if the families were related. Also I have tapped out my grandma's memory on the Beers family and would love to know if Sylvester Jr. is still alive and might know more about the family and poss. remember some of the people in the pictures that I have that my grandmother does not remember. I have located one Sylvester Nash in the Who's who thing on the internet and he lives in Ark. so I am going to write to him to see if it is someone from the family. I have alot of info on the Nash's from NC and some in Ar. if anyone is interested. Please help me find the long lost Nash's who married the Beers family. Thanks, Kimberly Nash

    1. NASH, Julious -- death cert. 1944 TX
    2. I rushed to the courthouse yesterday on my lunch hour and purchased a copy of a death certificate for Julious N. NASH who died 10 Sept 1944 in Jefferson County, TX only to find out that this was not my Julious. I didn't need that $9.00 anyway. But, I will be glad to send this cert. to anyone researching this line. Julious N. NASH born 6 July 1913 Birthplace: Louisiana Father: Penny NASH birthplace: Louisiana Mother: Lora WHITE Birthplace: Louisiana It states that Julious was a white male, age 31. He was single. I am assuming this would indicate that he had never been married (in other words - he was not divorced) so therefore he would not have any kids. I hope someone can find use for this document. Just send me an address and I will be glad to mail it to you. Kim

    1. William Nash (1696-1760) PA
    2. Carl Wisler
    3. I need help in resolving a problem pertaining to the wives and children of William Nash (b. 1696 - d. 1760, Bedminster Twp, Bucks Co, PA). William appears to have had three wives: Magdalena Gottschalk, Hannah Linderman, and Agnes (Kolb) Overholtzer, widow of Martin Overholtzer. William's will makes clear that his last wife was Agnes, but he does not identify the others. Some secondary sources say Magdalena was the first wife and others say it was Hannah. Does anyone have a strong argument supporting one alternative or the other. I understand that there is evidence that a William Nash m. a Hannah Linderman in Philadelphia in 1731. Can anyone provide a citation for that information? Further clues are given in William Nash's will. He identifies three children of his unnamed first wife: Elise (Alice) m. to William Tyson, Ann m. Joseph Tyson and Katharine m. Benjamin Hendricks. He identifies two children of his unnamed second wife: William m. Rachel Hendricks and Madaline m. Jacob Fretz. He identifies three children of Agnes: Elizabeth m. Martin Overholt, Joseph m. Elizabeth Wismer, and Abraham m. Mary Hockman. Some researchers have added a fourth child of Agnes, Benjamin who apparently died young. The spouses of the children of Agnes were not identified by William but were supplied by Nash researchers. Thanks in advance for any information that will put this issue to rest. Carl Wisler cwisler@erols.com Mitchellville, MD
