    2. To Anyone Searching.......... I feel I am in the same "boat" so to speak...My maternal great great grandmother was reported to be part Indian...and we have never been able to research her lineage as she and my great great grandfather parted company when my grandfather was young....and they both remarried,...We are not even sure of her name......I was told it was Isabenda or Icybuda Richardson or Richeson and she was probably born in Monroe County Wisconsin probably around early 1800's.........She married my great grandfather Lafayette Stevens in Wisconsind and my grandfather, George Dewane Stevens was born of that union in 1856 glendale, WI Monroe County. We were told she later married a man named Tindall. If anyone has any information regarding her I would greatly appreciate it. I am 80 years old and there is no one in the family left to check with. 2. Thanks, I'll check the trail of tears. I've been able to trace her mother back quite a way, so it has to come from her father's side. He was Sampson Wilson born 1813. 3. Hi there everyone, I was informed several years ago that my father was part Chippewa. Now, as I don't have any names of the tribes for which he may have descended, I hit a blank wall. Do any of you have any information that I might follow to learn about this "great"? My maiden name was Crittenden. Would appreciate any information you could me. 3. Hello. I have an ancestors who I'm told was 1/2 Chippewa and 1/2 French. He was living in Minesota and Wisconsin. His name is Charles S. Duvall.b. Feb. 10, 1842. His wife was Mary A. Cook.b. abt 1850. She was supposed to be 100% Mohawk from New York or Penn. Some say it was Mary A. Cook who was 1/2 Chippewa and 1/2 French. Is there anyone on this list that can help me to verify one way or the other about their NA blood? These are my great-grandparents. I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you. Hummingbird

    1. Re: [NA-CHIPPEWA] Ellen Montez Wilson
    2. Bernadine I believe my Johnson line originated in Ohio, but actually don't have proof of that yet either, just the answer to census taker!! My Wilson's came to Missouri when the Osage were still there, but I'm not exactly sure where they came from. Some census show Tennessee and others Georgia and in one case I found Kentucky!! My grandmother definitely had Native American features... high cheek bones, dark skin and eyes, etc., so I think there probably is some Ojibwa in there somewhere, just cannot figure out where!! I'll keep you in mind as I research these families and if I find anything of interest to your lines, I'll be sure to let you know. In a message dated 5/13/2007 3:51:32 P.M. They did move to Canada and after they had their family moved to Michigan. Douglas and they had 11 daughters. Kate would be my great grandmother THANK YOU Jim Benson ************************************************ Cecile KATE DOUGLAS (WE-3338) DOB ~1871 to DOD March 15,1952.  She married William Henry Douglas (March 14, 1858 in Wisconsin died in Naytawaush, Minnesota November 22, 1936 in Naytawaush, Minnesota) William and Kate had 11 daughters. Williams' family came from Penobscott, Maine Kates ' father was Dan Shanahan.  He came from Ireland.   Kates ' mother may be Louise or Louisa Bellecourt (as indicated on her death certificate)     or Kates' mother is an  woman by the Indian name of Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq.  (WE-3331) (1847 at  Mille Lacs Indian Reseration  died-March 10, 1905)  Also found as  Ah-zhe-tay-ke-shig-o-quay   Either way the birth certificates are probably tribal records.  They may be held in White Earth, Cass Lake(Minnesota Chippewa  Tribe), or state of Minnesota.  I have not seen Kates' birth certificate.   ***Louise Bellecourt and Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq could be one and the same person (just a Euro-American surname and an Indian name).   Or; Either Louise Bellecourt or Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq  could be a step mother or: Kates' mother could also be someone other than these 2 women. I do have that Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq was married/partnered 4 times, (I have to Daniel Shanahan, Henry T. Bellanger, Charles Gwinn and John Buchanan).     ****** Conjecture: Personally  I suspect  Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq is Kates' mother,  and either is also  known as Louise or Louisa Belecourt; or Louisa Bellecourt is Dan Shanahans' other spouse and so therefore Kates' stepmother.  Or Kates' mother could also be someone other than these 2 women.    Determining Kates' mother defines which direction the true ancestry trail that I need to trace back.   ****** NEED VERIFIED: either Confirmed or negated Who is Louisa Bellecourt ? The Louise Bellecourt that I have found is born too late to be Kates' mother. Is Louise her given name? Was Bellecourt her maiden name? Does she have an Indian name? Did Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq also partner with a Bellecourt ?   Who is Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq? Who was Cecelia "Kate" Shanahan/ Douglas' biological mother? ***Is Cecelia "Kate" Shanahan Douglas and Cecelia Brown one and the same person?  Is Frank "Zauzway" Shanahan and Zansway Brown one and the same person ? ***Is Louisa Bellecourt and Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq one and the same? Is Louisa Bellecourt a step mother to Cecelia "Kate" Shanahan/Brown? or is Ahzhekaykeshigoq Ahzheday Ahzhetaykeshigoq a step mother to Cecelia "Kate" Shanahan/Brown? ***Were Maggie Brown and Cecile "Kate" Shanahan-Douglas sisters(full biological) ? Were Maggie Brown and Cecile "Kate" Shanahan-Douglas half-sisters? Were Maggie Brown, Zanzway Brown, Cecile "Kate" Shanahan-Douglas, Frank Shanahan full or half-siblings? Were there other siblings or half siblings? If so, did they go by the name Brown, Shanahan, Bellecourt, Bellanger, Gwinn, Buchanan or otherwise. Supposedly Cecile Kate Shanahan was also partnered with a Roy (I believe John P. Roy) prior to marrying William Henry Douglas. They did not have any children. Which Roy family is this John P. Roy from ?
