I've tested myself with the Family Tree DNA's Big-Y test, I'm kit #279263. They determined I'm I-4769 a subgroup of I-M223. I'm in the Myers project under John D. Myers, b. 1812 PA d. 1881 Greene Co.,IN. I'm more or less at a brick wall with him, I did find a baptism record that listed his parents as Johannes and Catherina Meyers in Northampton Co. PA. John D. Myers married Katharine Hennig, Swiss descent, in Centre Co. PA, moved to Stark Co. OH and then on to Greene County, IN by 1850. Speaking of the MYERS DNA project I recently found a male line MYERS cousin to be tested and he (actually we) have 2 zero distance matches in the project on the 37 marker test. They both list their most distant known ancestor as Christian MOYER of Philadelphia County, PA. born about 1706. According to what I've been reading this means we have about a 97% probability of connecting to this MOYER line within 7 or 8 generations, and an 80% probability within 4 or 5 generations. The earliest ancestor we can prove on paper (I have the family Bible) is Conrad "Kuny" MYERS born 23 June 1830 in Pennsylvania and died 31 May 1902 in Gettysburg, Adams County, PA. I believe Conrad is the Conrad MEYERS who appears on the 1850 census in Oxford, Adams County, PA, with probable parents Jacob MEYERS, born about 1786 and Elizabeth, born about 1798 and siblings including a probable twin brother Eli. The family as I've been able to piece them together through the census and through baptismal records from Abbottstown Reformed Church in Adams County, PA are: Salome "Sarah" MYERS 1815-1862 (Married Jonas TROSTLE and died in Randolph County, IN) Johannes "John" MYERS 1817-1896 (Married Sarah HENISE) Leah Anna MYERS 1818-1872 (Married Henry STAMBAUGH) Eli MYERS 1830-1870 (married Caroline RAWHOUSER) Conrad MYERS 1830-1902 (Married Maria ZINN) Mary MYERS 1833-??? Eliza MYERS 1834-??? Louisa MYERS 1840-??? Jacob MYERS moved from Adams County, PA to York County, PA, where he appears on the 1860 census in Dover Twp. He is living next to son John. He is buried in Salem Cemetery in Dover Twp. According to descendants of Leah (MYERS) STAMBAUGH her mother Elizabeth's maiden name is STRALEY. So that is where we are...trying to make a connection between what we know and what the MYERS Y DNA test tells us.
