I have records the Jacob Myers started the very first riverboat service out of Pittsburgh to Kentucky October 14 1793. He is somehow related to the Gratz family of Philadelphia. The Gratz family is related to the Gist family of Gen Mordecai Gist of Philadelphia and and Christopher Gist of Pittsburgh. Christopher Gist was with George Washington as a guide in Pittsburgh in the late fall of 1753. I believe they belong to the wealthy Jewish line called the Myers Hays Mordecai line out of Boston with relatives in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Richmond. Yes, some were married into Native Americans. They also seem to be related to Robert E Lee by a mix of marriage and kinships. The Indian Removal Act of 1835 and the Civil War of 1861 did in most of the family records in the North. Many of these Myers families would then just say they came from Germany. It's really the Loranie area of France near Amsterdam. Many converted to Methodist for business reasons. A few are Catholic if married into Native Americans. This is because many Native Americans were Catholic thanks to the French in the area. With my information on the Myers family and the above is less then 1%, I do believe you can prove the Chief White Eyes Story.
