Ursula Henriette Alwine Marquardt was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Lubeck, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm Theobald Julius Marquardt and Henriette Dorothea Elise Bode Marquardt. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Hamburg, where Ursula spent her youth. Following high school, she completed four years of training and began her career as a laboratory technologist. She was married in Germany and moved to Plattsburgh in 1949 with her husband, Harry J. Myers. Ursula resumed working in her chosen field in Plattsburgh at Physicians Hospital and retired as supervisor of the Hematology Department at CVPH Medical Center after 33 years. Ursula was a devoted and loving mother. She endeared herself to everyone with her kindness and beautiful smile. She enjoyed the company of many dear friends while taking long walks, gardening, attending classical music concerts, operas and museums and traveling throughout Europe. After her retirement, she became a docent at Plattsburgh State University Art Museum and as a member of Champlain Valley Quilters Guild, she stitched many beautiful quilts for family and friends with the uniqueness of each recipient in mind. Ursula was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Hannelore Marquardt Buck, of Hamburg, Germany. Survivors include children, Nancy Myers (Laurence Pardi) of Altamont, Carol Myers Schaffer of Slingerlands, Thomas Myers of Cohoes, Joseph Myers of Stephentown and Elise (Robert) Biernacki of Glenmont; grandchildren Kirstan Conley of New York City, Travis Myers of Saratoga Springs, Kyle and Joseph Myers Jr., of Stephentown, Courtney, Robert and Sophie Biernacki of Glenmont; goddaughter Sarah Van Leeuwen; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends; in Germany, Hans Buck, brother-in-law; Gabriele Buck Wagner (Peter), niece; Sophie Buck, great-niece; and several cousins. A memorial service will be held at noon, May 20, 2006, at St. John's Catholic Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
