I just wanted to interject a possible blood connection to some Myers famlies to Gov Alexander Spotswood. The Spotswood connection to Jacob Myers of the Slate Creek Iron Works is through John Cockey Owings who purchased the Iron Works in the later 1790's. The Cockey family of Baltimore is married into the Gist family of Baltimore. Both Christopher Gist and Jacob Myers were with George Washington in Pittsburgh in 1754. Christopher Gist's great grandmother was Ann Washington. Patrick Henry, who gave Jacob Myers the 10,000 acres needed to built the Iron Works, is married to Gov Alexander Spotswood's granddaughter. It's a very tight family all around. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
