The Mayflower arrived in 1621, so it sounds very English. If you know anything about the religous conflicts, trade, family or ship they arrived on you might find some good hints. I have another branch that arrived in the 1640's and insisted on not wearing a tie to church, which had been a huge conflict in England. They arrived in the Boston area but I believe Maryland was also a major port and point of entry for Virginia. Often an area of land was divided among the settlers and a small town was formed. Later passage was paid by someone in America and people arrived as indentured servants. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
