Martin, as coachman and handy man around the Martin home was killed by a fall from the second story of the barn early last Sunday morning. Meyers slept upstairs in the barn and it is thought he tumbled out while closing or opening the door on the second floor which is needed to put hay in the loft. He was found lying on the cement walk about one o'clock by Don Cameron, who was returning from the moonlight excursion to Mackinac Island. He was carried into the barn and Doctor Marks called, but died at five o'clock the same morning, the side of his head being crushed in by the fall. The Eagles, of which he was a member, took charge of the remains, which were removed to Tuttle's undertaking rooms, and Monday morning were taken to the Martin home, from where the funeral was held Monday afternoon, the Rev. Schultzberg officiating. Several months ago while talking with a number of friends, he told of having a narrow escape fro! m a fall from the barn, saying he was walking in his sleep, a thing that had never happened to him before and he woke up just as he was at the head of the stairs. His friends think that probably while walking in his sleep, he walked through the open door and fell to the cement walk below, where he was found in his night shirt. The dead man had no relatives that are known here. He was well known in the city and a quiet inoffensive man.
