This is a wealthy Dutch Jewish Line that came to the Boston and Road Island area around 1700. Family members can be found in New York, Lancaster Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Baltimore, Richmond and Norfolk. I am very interested in the group living in Lancaster, Pittsburgh and Kentucky. To give you an example of their wealth. Jacob Myers purchased with war bonds 250 land grants totaling 1 million acres from Patrick Henry over a 10 year period from 1780 to 1790. The Revolution War Bonds were purchased by the Myers family around 1777 in Pittsburgh. Most Kentucky Land Grants in the 1780's were being sold for around $1 an acre. That's 1 million dollars in 1785 money. One Million acres is an area around 15 miles wide and 100 miles long and would be worth over 1 billion dollars today. By contrast, Daniel Boone received one 1000 acre Kentucky Land Grant on May 31 1781. My source for the Land Grants is a book titled "Old Kentucky Entries and Deeds" by Willard Rouse Jillson published about 150 years ago. I got this book at the Pittsburgh Library I am trying to figure out what happened to this Myers family. If you think your a member, email me.
