I don't think the PA Dutch were from only PA. Looks like it doesn't matter, which is what I was getting at, but I didn't know if it was true or not. PA Dutch happened to be pretty much all over the eastern seaboard according to this web site. It seems as though there were just concentrations of them in southern and central PA. Probably just populations of Germanic speaking people who knew each other before they emmigrated. Whether closely related or not my guess is that most PA Dutch with the surname Myers, Miers, Moyers etc are related in one way or another, its just a question of how close, or when and where they came to the US.
