I would think that if you had the surname (we do) and if you have ancestors from the eastern portion of the US, most likely....PA Dutch. Now does this mean that they were living in German immigrant communities? I do not know. I know that at least my gg grandfather Howard and his parents probably were not, and if they were PA Dutch, they (or one of their ancestors) staked out on their own away from the immigrant communities (as far as I can tell).
