Yes, the title is honorary and has recently been used by the chickasaw and other tribes. As I stated in my first post, the title is not inherited. In the Osage tribe it is bestowed on a female that has brought honor to the tribe. The following link is a transcript of a "princess" testifying to the US House of Representatives. http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:t3gsuwH1N7YJ:resourcescommittee.house.gov/archives/108/testimony/2004/jessicamoore.htm osage princess&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=16 If the genealogists want to put their heads in the sand and say there are no indian princesses, then so be it.
