I have been doing research on the Myers name for some time. Many Myers families have Native American blood in them. That fact needed to be hidden in the mid 1800. Best way out is to tell the census taker that the family is from Germany. So now you might have two recorded locations of birth. The Ross name is also part Native American. John Ross was Chief of the Cherokees during the civil war.
Native American Myers Could you tell me which Myers lines have Native American origins? What part of the country? What years? We think our Myers (Mears) are from Ireland and then Maine. ....but we have a great aunt who lived in Georgia. Thanks.
