    1. [Myers] Prime Example: MYERS, Lewis
    2. Here's a prime example of what I was attempting to discuss earlier: Lewis MYERS -- s/o Henry MYERS of "South of the Potomac" Virginia -- b. Abt. 1772 in what everyone believes to be Montgomery County, Kentucky. d. Abt. 1863 in Ripley County, Indiana. I found him in the 1850 census records, living in Brown Township, Ripley County, Indiana with second wife Susan (Rosemeyer/Rosemyer). And we all know census records are not gospel, but it stated that Lewis was indeed born in or about 1772, however, the census states he was born in Pennsylvania. And living with them is Samuel MYERS who is 14 years of age, born in Indiana. Susan or Susannah as she is found later, was 46 years of age, and born in Kentucky. Then in the 1860 census, again, living in Brown Township in Ripley County, Indiana, again we find LOUIS (not Lewis as it was previously written) MYERS, again, born about 1772, and again in Pennsylvania, not Kentucky as all others had told me. Living with Susannah who is 57 years of age born in Kentucky (still), and now Mary A. Myers, age 18, born in Indiana is living with them. For starters -- who is right? The census records who have him born in Pennsylvania, or other researchers who have him born in Montgomery County, Kentucky. And where was Mary A. Myers in the 1850 census, she would have been about 8 years of age then, shouldn't she have been in the 1850 census as well? And Samuel like disappears, and is not on any pages of that census (within a reasonable distance from his father) of 1860, because we would presume he married within that 10 year span, or he died. Could this be the "other" Lewis Myers who was born of a Henry Myers -- and if so, then where did Lewis Myers born of Henry Myers "South of the Potomac" go? Deb Inquiring minds..... The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional and how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation. --George Washington
