I have traced my Pittsburgh Myers family to Gov Alexander Spotswood 1676-1740 of Culpeper. He was Governor of Virginia around 1710. He was known as the Royal Governor of Virginia. His family is married into the Washinton's, Jefferson's and Dandridge's and Henry's who are married into the Lewis's and Lee's. The Governor for the most part was into shipping and iron making. The Myers family, I believe, is from France and they are Boatmyers or Boat Experts. They make their own sea going boats. They are experts in Carpentry and Iron Making in orger to make these boats. I actually have some paperwork that my Myers family in Pittsburgh is blood related to Gov Alexander Spotswood. My family ran riverboats up and down the Ohio out of Pittsburgh in the late 1700's to 1861. I have records they had to give up the boat business during the Civil War because the family is somehow related to Robert E Lee. Robert E Lee is a direct descendent of Gov Alexander Spotswood. I actually have 90 year old family members remember as children their 90 year old relatives remember that Major Robert E Lee visited the Myers/Lewis/Dunseith mansion in Pittsburgh in the late 1850's I am still trying to figure out the blood relationship but I believe it's through the Native American Village here in Pittsburgh. Something the Spotswood Foundation is not happy about. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
