A well know Myers family from Emmistburg MD, who were related to the Philadelpha Gratz family and did move to both the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia area. They are not Jewish but Catholic with Jewish roots and connected to the highest levels of the Catholic Church in Philadelphia. They are the same Grats family as Gratz PA. Hey, I said a coincidence but there you are. The center of the Catholic Church in the US was Emittsburg MD and the President of Mount St Marys College was named Rev John McCloskey who is not the same person as Cardinal John McCloskey although both attended Mount St Marys in Emmitsburg MD. I have the Marriage license and it states that Gilbert Halden Myers, age 21 with an occupation as a glass worker, living in Willock, PA and my grandmother, Ruth Liberty Bartlett, 21, living in Clifton PA, married on September 14th, 1937 in the state of Maryland, Allegany County, ss. This is the only piece of history that I have. When I started my research into genealogy 13 years ago, Ruth already had Alzheimer's and Dementia. My mother, says she never knew her father. It seems as though there is an unknown that has kept this quiet for a lifetime. Hopefully, this mystery can be solved.
