    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: tictochtoe Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.myers/4501.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thomas Ural Myers was born Jan. 4, 1865 in Cave City, Kentucky and died June 19, 1951 in Lometa, Lampasas County, Texas. His parents were William Louis Myers, born abt 1837 in Kentucky and died about 1879, and Lucy Martin Myers, born abt 1837 in Kentucky (my grandmother Emma May said she was French and weighed about 100 pounds). I have not verified this, but I think William Louis Myers was the son of Harvey S. Myers (1810-1864) and Mary A. Myers (1811-?) Grandma May told me that Thomas's mother died when he was a child and William remarried and Thomas could not abide his stepmother. He left home at 14 years of age, walking from Cave City, Kentucky to Hope, Arkansas, where he went to work for John Beene, Molly's father. Author: jmyoung365 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.myers/7799.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Debbie- First off...I would suggest you edit out some of the private personal information about your birth mother in the event that she is still living and wouldn't want the information made public. For that reason I considered deleting this query but I sympathize with you in your search for your birth father and the rest of the information may help you find information that may help in your search...so please edit out any private data about your birth mother. That said...how about your closest matches on AncestryDNA and 23andme? If you haven't uploaded your DNA data to GEDMatch you might want to do that to increase the number of matches you might find. Best of luck in your search...and don't forget to edit your original query. Thanks! Joan, admin MYERS message board Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [Myers] Antique Needlework Memorial for William Johns created by Louisa Myers 1822
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bamahart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.myers/7797/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Myers & Johns Researchers, I get a regular email from the Auction site http://www.invaluable.com. Today it announced an auction for an important MYERS HEIRLOOM needlework, titled with description. If you are interested please follow the link below the description. The auction begins on November 28, 2014, 10:00 AM EST. You will have to go to the link below to find out how to participate in the auction. Lot 510: IMPORTANT PENNSYLVANIA NEEDLEWORK MEMORIAL Marietta, Lancaster County, 1832, hair, silk on gauze. Depicts a grieving couple by a monument dedicated to twenty-one-year-old William Johns who died in 1822, willow tree bowing overhead, the whole surrounded by floral vine. Signed at lower edge "Louisa Myers her work made in the year of our Lord 1832". Ribbon border. In a frame, 21.5"h. 21.5"w. Possibly the daughter of George and Mary Myers of York County, born in 1822, she married Levi Groscost (1821-1910) and lived in York County until her death in 1879. Judging from the design and needlework, Louisa attended Mrs Buchanan's School in Marietta. The realistic flower border on three sides, the wide leafed willow, plume pattern on the urn, the wording of the inscriptions, ribbon border and use of real hair are all characteristic of needlework made under the supervision of Catherine Buchanan. See Ring's Girlhood Embroidery, pgs. 422-427. http://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/important-pennsylvania-needlework-memorial.-510-c-2392b11463?utm_source=house&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=exclusive&utm_content=gar112214 I am posting this same message on Rootsweb for the surname Johns. I hope someone finds this valuable to their research. Sincerely, a fellow researcher. I am NOT a Myers researcher. I am only posting this because I thought this was very interesting and that some Myers researchers may be interested in following up on this. Please do not contact me asking for more information. I don't know anything more than what I have posted here. However, if anyone finds that they have a connection, it would be fun to know hear about that.
