I'm not sure if the George W. Myers is my ancestor (b. Dec 5, 1818) or not. I am trying to eliminate people by looking at the census records for 1840, 1830 and 1820. My George W. Myers was born in Pa., so was his father. His mother was foreign born. I know this from the census records. He was in Muncy, Pa. Lycoming Co. in the 1850 census.

I did find one person's information that said Philip Jacob Myers was the brother of Valentine Myers and George W. Myers, but I don't know where they got this from, and that was all it said. He married Ann Mack and then Margaret Brodt. They had 14 children, George Mack Myers, Henry Myers, Maria Anne Myers, Reuben Jacob Myers, Elizabeth Myers, Caroline Myers, Margaret Myers, John Myers, Priscilla Myers, Norman Myers, William P. Myers, Lydia Myers, Christiana Myers, Ellen Myers and Rachel Myers. Someone else posted on her that they knew who his parents were, but didn't list them and the message is four years old. Anyone on still on here who knows?

Ship Utica, Le Havre France to New York 1846 Mayer, George age 44 Mayer, Anne age 45 Mayer, Johann age 16 (americanized to John) Mayer, Ursule age 17 (americanized to Mary) Mayer, George age 13 Mayer, Jacob age 11 Mayer, Thomas age 9 They first stopped in Pike County, Illinois where I found them in the 1850 Federal Census listed under township 5S 3W Next the moved to Clayton Co., Iowa. George Sr. died 25 Apr 1865 Ursule (Mary) married John George Baumann about 1850, they had at least 9 children, 2 dying in infancy. They lived out their lives in Volga Twp., Clayton Co., Iowa Johan (John) married Anne or Agness abt 1857, they had 3 known children: Henry, William John, and Amelia. By 1880 they had moved to Sioux County, Iowa where Johan (John) died in 1916 George (Jr.) lost track of him after the 1850 Census Jacob married Marie/Mary D. Lundt in 1865. They had at least 6 children and lived out thier lives in Volga Twp., Clayton Co., Iowa. Thomas lost track of him after the passenger list. George Myers. St. Augustine, Fla., December 31. – In the death of George Myers at Chester, Fla., last night, this city and a worthy family loses a val-ued citizen and friend. The deceased was a volunteer Union soldier of the civil war, and won distinction at Gettysburg, Pa., in the ranks. He was the head of the firm here of George Myers & Co., and has been for the past eight years established in Fernandina’s cannery. His sister, Mrs. George Howatt, Mr. Howatt and Frank J. Howatt left today for Chester.
