    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Meyers, Myers Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Hi2.2ACIB/6093 Message Board Post: Article from Cheboygan Democrat, August 23, 1907 Cheboygan, Michigan FALLS TO HIS DEATH George Meyers Falls From Martin's Barn and is Killed on the Stone Sidewalk George Meyers, for many years employed by W.L. Martin, as coachman and handy man around the Martin home was killed by a fall from the second story of the barn early last Sunday morning. Meyers slept upstairs in the barn and it is thought he tumbled out while closing or opening the door on the second floor which is needed to put hay in the loft. He was found lying on the cement walk about one o'clock by Don Cameron, who was returning from the moonlight excursion to Mackinac Island. He was carried into the barn and Doctor Marks called, but died at five o'clock the same morning, the side of his head being crushed in by the fall. The Eagles, of which he was a member, took charge of the remains, which were removed to Tuttle's undertaking rooms, and Monday morning were taken to the Martin home, from where the funeral was held Monday afternoon, the Rev. Schultzberg officiating. Several months ago while talking with a number of friends, he told of having a narrow escape fro! m a fall from the barn, saying he was walking in his sleep, a thing that had never happened to him before and he woke up just as he was at the head of the stairs. His friends think that probably while walking in his sleep, he walked through the open door and fell to the cement walk below, where he was found in his night shirt. The dead man had no relatives that are known here. He was well known in the city and a quiet inoffensive man.

My ggrandfather and others from his generation moved to Remus, MI and made a settlement there. We have many cousins still in both places. The majority of the families were of mixed blood, black, white and indian. And now we are a huge group of families related and intermarried so we are all shades. And we have great reunions each summer in both Zanesville, OH and Remus, MI. I know I have many Myers still missing on my tree so maybe we'll find a link later on.

Francis was a dyer and the siblings were, all but the youngest 2, linen mill workers at the time. From the later census they stayed in the general area The common names I have are James, Sarah, Joseph, Mary, Martha, Ann, Samuel, William, John

I'm sure Charley was in Omaha at one time, but moved to CA. I have pictures of Uncle Charley. Do you think they could be the same?
