Myers July 30, 1919 - April 11, 2006 Joan L. Myers, 86, Kokomo, died 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette. She was born July 30, 1919, in Kokomo, a daughter of Hobart and Roxanna (Thatcher) Hollingsworth. She married Ross Mikels, who preceded her in death. She then married Kenny Hesselman, who preceded her in death, and later married William E. Myers, who also preceded her in death. She was retired from Delco Electronics after 30 years of service. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church of Kokomo. She had been active in the Moose and Elks auxiliaries, and also had helped with We Care. She was an elections poll worker for many years and enjoyed golf and bowling. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Paula Mikels, Loudenville, Ohio, and Roger and Leslie Myers, Lafayette; a brother, Jack Hollingsworth, Kokomo; a sister, Sharon Mole, Kokomo; nine grandchildren, Victoria Ritchie, Sherri Romero, Connie Fugate, Mark Myers, Derek Puterbaugh, Matthew Myers, Danna Puterbaugh, Derek Jones and Rodney Jones and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands and two brothers, Hobart Hollingsworth Jr. and Benjamin Hollingsworth. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., with Pastor Throstur B. Thordarson officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. I still have alot of branches with data missing. Most of mine lived in the Zanesville or Barnesville area of OH, which is on the east side. And most were mulatto, if that helps any. Many of the families that intermarried with us lived in an area called the Lett Settlement. My gggrandparents had 14 children, I think 5 went to MI. My ggrandpa had his children in MI, his wife died, so he gave the kids to others to raise and went back to OH. And many Myers cousins still live in that area. Good luck to you. Barb

Ursula Henriette Alwine Marquardt was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Lubeck, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm Theobald Julius Marquardt and Henriette Dorothea Elise Bode Marquardt. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Hamburg, where Ursula spent her youth. Following high school, she completed four years of training and began her career as a laboratory technologist. She was married in Germany and moved to Plattsburgh in 1949 with her husband, Harry J. Myers. Ursula resumed working in her chosen field in Plattsburgh at Physicians Hospital and retired as supervisor of the Hematology Department at CVPH Medical Center after 33 years. Ursula was a devoted and loving mother. She endeared herself to everyone with her kindness and beautiful smile. She enjoyed the company of many dear friends while taking long walks, gardening, attending classical music concerts, operas and museums and traveling throughout Europe. After her retirement, she became a docent at Plattsburgh State University Art Museum and as a member of Champlain Valley Quilters Guild, she stitched many beautiful quilts for family and friends with the uniqueness of each recipient in mind. Ursula was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Hannelore Marquardt Buck, of Hamburg, Germany. Survivors include children, Nancy Myers (Laurence Pardi) of Altamont, Carol Myers Schaffer of Slingerlands, Thomas Myers of Cohoes, Joseph Myers of Stephentown and Elise (Robert) Biernacki of Glenmont; grandchildren Kirstan Conley of New York City, Travis Myers of Saratoga Springs, Kyle and Joseph Myers Jr., of Stephentown, Courtney, Robert and Sophie Biernacki of Glenmont; goddaughter Sarah Van Leeuwen; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends; in Germany, Hans Buck, brother-in-law; Gabriele Buck Wagner (Peter), niece; Sophie Buck, great-niece; and several cousins. Dear List, I am trying to trace the ancestry of Ellen Myers. Her marriage certificate states she was from America and her parents David Myers and Julia King. I do have all of that info, but I thought it doesn't hurt to check these Myers out. I have been searching for quite a while for the parents, siblings, etc of their father, John Myers. In 1900 census, he lists his parents as being from Switzerland and in 1880 census, he lists them as being from Germany. I do appreciate you answering back and I wish you luck in your search. Pat

Myers was born at Independence and married Miss Lucille Brewer in Chehalis in 1921. He served in the Army during World War I and was a member of the Oakville American Legion post. Myers retired from his service staion business several years ago and had been a maintenance man for the Oakville school district in recent years. Surviving are the wife at home.

There is a John Myers in 1900 OH census in Belmont County, Pease Twp, Inc City: Martin's Ferry, Dist 11 sheet no. 32B John Myers, head, b Oct 1857 in OH Sarah wife, b. June 1860 Sons: Charley, Johnnie, Jacob, George (b. 1890) Eddie, and daughter, Ruth P. Schroder. I believe the sons may all be John's children from a previous marriage and the daughter must be a child from her previous marriage. Look this up and see what you think.
