Milton and his wife, Mary Jane Keller (born: 24 Nov 1841, died: 14 Dec 1908)were married 29 Dec 1864. They are both buried at Canadochly cemetery. I have their marriage certificate- wife's name on the marriage certificate is listed as Mary J. Flinchbaugh. Mary Jane Keller was previously married to a Henry Flinchbaugh. At the time she married Milton Myers, she had a son named Henry W. Flinchbaugh born: 30 March 1862. This son is buried at Yorkana Cemetery. Thank you for sharing your info. I am a descendent of Amos Myers and Anna Elizabeth Paules Myers too. Amos was born 24 Mar 1850 and died 31 May 1926. Anna was born 29 Dec 1848 and died 11 Jul 1907. Amos is my great-great grandfather. His son Elmer Myers is my great grandfather, and Elmer's son Wilson Henry Myers is my grandfather. Amos and Anna are buried at Canadochly as previously stated. There are memorials for them available at Findagrave.com. I ordered a PA Death certificate for Amos and it indicates that his parents are Jacob Myers and Elizabeth Lieberknecht. Makes sense since there are Lieberknechts buried Canodochly as well. I have several photos of Amos I can share if any descendents come across this thread. Michael R. Author: photo66666 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.myers/7652.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Pocahontas story was around 1614 or so. The Myers family of Fort Myers in Lee County Florida goes back to 1492. They were known as the Myers/DeLeon family of St Augustine Florida. Lee County was named after General Robert E Lee who's wife was Mary Anna Randolph Custis. She was a direct descent to Pocahontas. Dr David DeLeon was General Robert E Lee's personal doctor. Col Meriwether Lewis Clark was his aide. There are several Myers families Captain James Myers could belong to. I thought he was part of Marine Captain John Twiggs Myers' family and thus in the book Americans of Jewish Descent. General Myers is also in the book "The Randolphs of Virginia". Thomas Jefferson is in section 1 and Pocahontas is in section 8. General Myers is in section 5 or 6. Dr David Deleon had a twin brother who was a writer. He wrote the book "The Belles of the South" by Thomas DeLeon. The Myers/Gratz family out of Philadelphia were the main suppliers of the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh in 1803. It happend when General Myers' cousin married into the Gratz family of Michael and Bernard Gratz. That is, Jacob Myers married Marion Etting. The connection to Pittsburgh is when the Myers family supplied Col Francis Marion and Col Francis Marion served at Fort Duquesne/Pitt during the French and Indian War. Also General Myers' father, a close friend of William Techumseh Sherman, was the head of the Allegheny Arsenal in Pittsburgh in the 1850's. Another relative was Captain Herndon who was also lost at sea with a shippment of gold from California. These are southern families and most of their records were burned by General Sherman who's daughter, Mini Sherman, lived in Pittsburgh. Her brother, a Catholic Priest, was the aide to Cardinal John McCloskey. His name was Catholic Father Thomas Ewing Sherman and he was the head of the Santa Barbara Mission and my Myers family lived down the street from the Mission thus my interest. My family is buried in the McCloskey lot in Pittsburgh. They have relatives in the Lewis and Clark lot in Pittsburgh. Sorry but when you add a Myers family with Chief Powhattan, things click with me and I can spit things out from what was happening at the DeLeon Estate in Spain in 1400 to what happened this morning and it's all centered around the Native Americans painted on Pope Alexander Borgia's study in 1494. All these families were related to President Woodrow Wilson's second wife Edith BOLLING who was a direct descendent of Chief Powhattan via Pocahontas. To a Newyorker, I am sure this seems far fetched but in Virginia in 1850's, half the population was related to Chief Powhattan one way or the other including General Robert E Lee's wife Mary Anna RANDOLPH Custis and her great aunt Mary Meade RANDOLPH. I am sure Captain Myers named the ship. If indeed he is related to the Myers family of Ft Myers then they were the suppliers of the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh in 1803. William Clark's son CSA Col Meriwether Lewis Clark was General Lee's aide in Richmond VA. So maybe you should think about another story!
