    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Hi2.2ACIB/6335 Message Board Post: Hi I am researching the Myers Hays Mordecai family Line. This is a wealthy Dutch Jewish Line that came to the Boston and Road Island area around 1700. Family members can be found in New York, Lancaster Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Baltimore, Richmond and Norfolk. I am very interested in the group living in Lancaster, Pittsburgh and Kentucky. To give you an example of their wealth. Jacob Myers purchased with war bonds 250 land grants totaling 1 million acres from Patrick Henry over a 10 year period from 1780 to 1790. The Revolution War Bonds were purchased by the Myers family around 1777 in Pittsburgh. Most Kentucky Land Grants in the 1780's were being sold for around $1 an acre. That's 1 million dollars in 1785 money. One Million acres is an area around 15 miles wide and 100 miles long and would be worth over 1 billion dollars today. By contrast, Daniel Boone received one 1000 acre Kentucky Land Grant on May 31 1781. My source for the Land Grants is a book titled "Old Kentucky Entries and Deeds" by Willard Rouse Jillson published about 150 years ago. I got this book at the Pittsburgh Library I am trying to figure out what happened to this Myers family. If you think your a member, email me.

I have NO additional information. I am just passing along information that may be useful. MYERS, REGINALD R. Rank and organization: Major, U.S. Marine Corps, 3d Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, (Rein.). Place and date: Near Hagaru-ri, Korea, 29 November 1950. Entered service at: Boise, Idaho. Born: 26 November 1919, Boise, Idaho. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as executive officer of the 3d Battalion, in action against enemy aggressor forces. Assuming command of a composite unit of Army and Marine service and headquarters elements totaling approximately 250 men, during a critical stage in the vital defense of the strategically important military base at Hagaru-ri, Maj. Myers immediately initiated a determined and aggressive counterattack against a well-entrenched and cleverly concealed enemy force numbering an estimated 4,000. Severely handicapped by a lack of trained personnel and experienced leaders in his valiant efforts to regain maximum ground prior to daylight, he persisted in constantl! y exposing himself to intense, accurate, and sustained hostile fire in order to direct and supervise the employment of his men and to encourage and spur them on in pressing the attack. Inexorably moving forward up the steep, snow-covered slope with his depleted group in the face of apparently insurmountable odds, he concurrently directed artillery and mortar fire with superb skill and although losing 170 of his men during 14 hours of raging combat in subzero temperatures, continued to reorganize his unit and spearhead the attack which resulted in 600 enemy killed and 500 wounded. By his exceptional and valorous leadership throughout, Maj. Myers contributed directly to the success of his unit in restoring the perimeter. His resolute spirit of self-sacrifice and unfaltering devotion to duty enhance and sustain the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service . Burial: Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA Born: 1919 BOISE, ID Died: 2005 Additional Information and cemetery monument photo: http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/arlington/myers_reginald.html

But 1870 census states nothing of children. Came across an obit for Caroline wife of ADAM but states only had one child. Surnames: Moyer, Myers, Bostick, Bostic Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hi2.2ACIB/6330 Message Board Post: I am looking for any information concerning the family of Henry Moyer/Moyers/Myers and his wife Anna Margareta Bostick/Bostic who came from Lancaster County, PA to Sandusky County, OH about 1820, give or take a few years. There is some evidence they were in New York before arriving in Ohio. Henry Moyer was born about 1782 and changed the spelling of his name to "Myers" at an unknown date. He died 29 Dec 1839 in Sandusky County, Ohio. Henry's first wife was "Maria," about whom nothing is known. HIs second wife Anna Margareta Bostick (known as "Margaret") was born in 1797 in Lancaster County, PA and died 16 April 1891 in Ballville, Sandusky County, Ohio. Henry and Margaret had several children, not all of whom are proven: Henry born 1816 died 1822, Emanuel born 1817 died 1895, Mary or Maria born about 1819, John H. born 1821 died 1903, Elizabeth born 1823 died 1889, Benjamin born 1825, Adaline born 1826, and David born 1831. I am interested in corresponding with anyone concerning this family. Apparently there was another Myers family in the same area, but they were from Germany. The family I'm interested in came from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the early 1800's. Any help appreciated. Nancy
