His family is married into the Washington's, the Lewis's and the Henry's. Records show the Slate Creek Iron Works was built on 5000 to 10,000 acres of land given to Jacob Myers by Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry is married to Dorthy Spotswood. Dorthy Spotswood is Gov Alexander Spotswood's grand daughter. Gov Alexander Spotswood is credited with introducing iron making into America. The Myers family is listed in a Spotswood court order issued in Kentucky for the Spotswood Family Estate to distribute land to all known heirs. The Myers family is listed in that court order. Hi, Gee it seems like a lot of MYERS are from IN. I wish we all were related. I know very little, as a lot of you, about my Myers. I knew none of them except my father. I have found out that my grandfathers name originally was Ollie J Myers somewhere along the line he changed it to Alfred Edward. His parents names were Daniel M Myers and Louisa Bell. They lived in Harrison, IN. His father was also Daniel Myers, mother Jurilda Ann Curts. I have both grandparents marriage certs. Jurilda spells her name as Gerilda A Kurts. All were in Harrison, In. Somehow my grandfather Alfred or Ollie migrated to New Mexico, grandma was from CO and migrated there also I assume, where my father was born. Than he was in CA where he died 5 Jan 1969 in Fountain Valley, Orange, CA. According to the 1930 census, because he and my grandmother divorced and she remarried three other times, he, Alfred had also remarried and had a child named Shirley. She would be my Aunt but I don't know how to find her. According to the 1920 census ggrandfather Daniel was living with his mother and his three children Frank, Rosa and Ollie as a widower. And that is about all I know. Some of this info I knew some I have just found out. Any help to anyone? Would love to find a cuz somewhere. Helen, My MYERS were in INDIANA from about 1832 until 1865 when they moved to KS. They came FROM NC. My earliest relative was ANTHONY W. MYERS. They mostly lived in & around Brownstown INDIANA, then later in Ft Wayne Indiana. Does any of that ring a bell with your group of Myers? ... I have four people that were killed in the Baltimore Fire of April 14 1857 that are buried in my family plot here in Pittsburgh. My family ran riverboats out of Pittsburgh in the late 1700's. I have at least some family paperwork we are somehow connected to Gov Alexander Spotswood the Royal Governor of Virginia in 1700's. His family is married into the Washington's, the Lewis's and the Henrys. Then Meirwether Lewis left Pittsburgh in a brand new boat Aug 30 1803 to pick up Willaim Clark in Kentucky. Patrick Henry signed over 250 Kentucky land grants to the Myers family. The Myers family is noted in Alexander Spotswood's will recored in Kentucky. There seems to also be a connection to William Penn. I have at least some records that William Penn came to America in the ship called "WELCOME" sometime around 1680. That ship was said to be owned by the Myers family. That family is reported to be from France but later moved to Holland in the 1650's. LDS records show Jacob Myers born in Pittsburgh in 1750 was from France.
Hello listers: I recently found an old studio photograph of a couple by the names of "Bill Myers and wife, Clyde" in a book I bought at a used book store in Bluff Dale, TX some 3 or 4 years back. I had not read the book so I didn't know the photo was there until now. Their names are written on the back of the photo and "Youngs Studio, Mineral Wells, Texas" is also printed on the back. It looks like it may have been a wedding photo about 1900-1915. The photo was evidently used by someone as a bookmark and it is torn in half but it's still a good photo and I have taped it together on the back with archival, acid free tape. It could be scanned, enhanced and repaired on the computer. I don't know these people but I will be more than happy to mail this photo to their descendants if anyone on the lists has contact information. Please let me know. Thanks for your time, Lynda Green
