I know nothing about George, but Ida's parents were John and Rosana/Roxana (Whitehead) Olin and they resided in Solon Twp, Kent County, Michigan. Per census data, George and Ida may have resided in Algoma, MI in 1870 and then Philadelphia 31-WD, PA in 1880. Since I don't know if they had children, I don't know if this is the same family in the 1880 census. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Were your Myers white or mixed? Most of mine were mixed but some passed for white. And we aren't real clear when the mixing began so some in the past from Germany were prob white. And many in the current generations are. I have lots of the lines still missing people so I'm adding as I find them. http://mibabs.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=mibabs&view=9&rand=541294597 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. How do you tell if you have a Black Hole if you can't see it? You look for things around it. For years same scientist thought there were black holes in the universe. Many people thought that was a myth because you can't actually see a Black Hole. Then several scientist came up with a method to look for one by looking at objects around it. One thing for sure. If you don't look, you will not find. All I am saying is a Brick Wall is like a Black Hole. Don't look at the Brick Wall. Look at what is around it. If the test doesn't wash, move on. It's called the scientific method. You have a theory and you test against it. The theory is you have a "Brick Wall" and a very good reason for a "Brick Wall" is Native American blood at the time of the Indian Removal act of 1835. Test against that. If it doen't wash move on. So ask yourself why a "Brick Wall" in the time frame of 1835 to about 1850. Maybe the family doen't want to move to Iowa with 450 acres of free land as a take it or leave it offer from the government. Better to stay put and have the family come from Germany with no boat tickets as a family record or talk or memory of family members left behind in Germany during WW1 or WW2. Talk about a genealogical "leap of faith" -- a "brick wall is almost always a sign of Native American blood." Only if you listen to myths would that be true. Brick walls are almost always a sign that documentation hasn't yet been discovered to unearth the facts. Brick walls are no indication of any specific ethnicity.
