Lived in Oklahoma, Texas and Idaho and onward. Interesting that the names Thomas Albert and Willie are all alias names that my Great uncle used. My Jacob Finney Myers had two boys, William M Myers born 1885 Shawnee Oklahoma and George Sidney Myers born 1886 in Texas. William M Myers also used the name Bert Mayes,Albert Mayes, Albert Myers and also Bert Myers and also Thomas Myers. William M Myers died in Spokane Washington, George Sidney Myers passed in Boise Idaho 1938. Jacob Finney Myers was married to Dora Myers who was the step mother to the boys. Jacob Myers we believe was born in Illinois. Jacob was always on the run from the law too. The two boys mother was said to be Cherokee. She was married to Elza/Elzie Myers, son of Ezekiel Myers and lived in Wilkes Co. and in 1860 they lived in Iredell County. In the 1850 census in Wilkes, they have a "Betsy Shoemake(r)" living with them, and old enough to be Caroline's mother. And on her daughter, Eliza Robena Myer's death certificate, Caroline's maiden name is Shumaker and she was born in Iredell County. BUT, on the cemetery record at Round Mountain Baptist Church in Wilkes, where Caroline and Elzie are buried, her maiden name is listed as Millsaps! I live close to Sherman, Texas. Tell me about your Myers connection. It would be such a delight to break this brick wall after 4-6 years! I have been to the Dallas genealogy library, but it was overwhelming. I spent two days there just trying to locate my ANTHONY MYERS/MEYERS/MIRES/MYRES in the Civil War. Ancestry.com is much simpler! One thing I did learn at the Dallas library is to search for that needle in a haystack at a point where you know for sure he was ... like IND ... and perhaps it will lead you back to the more general area ... like NC. So I have been working on IND which so far hasn't helped ... YET. Where are you stuck? It is quite a good book, and lots of information. The reason I read it was that my maternal grandmother was a Myers from Walker Co. AL. whse mother was raised by hher grandfather Joseph Price, and nearby her future husband's family Myers who migrated to the US in 1760 to PA then SC then GA and on to AL and then TX. Have not looked at your site yet and will do so, but would love to hear from you, as there are so many names in the line of the Myers around Rankin and our Walker Co. compatible, that I think that there is a connection between the two lines. Some of my Myers do not agree, but there is a something that I cannot put my hands on to connect the two. I live near San Antonio in Gonzales Co. Where do you live in Texas.
