Author: photo66666 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.myers/7679/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have spent five years going over a unmarked gravesite in Pittsburgh called The Lewis and Clark Cemetery lot of one Alexander Lewis who was riverboat builder in Pittsburgh in the late 1700. It's a rather large lot with about 15 people in the lot. All the other lots have gravestones including the lot next door. They are the Sill family and they have a name stone that would cost over a million dollars today to replace. It stands about 30 ft tall. My sense is by the other gravestones and the names around and within 150 ft of the lewis and Clark lot, that all these people were Abolitionists connected to Meriwether Lewis' office at Harpers Ferry. Meriwether Lewis' office is next door to John Brown's fort. That is thanks to the park service that keeps these building in good service today. I have a record that one Jacob Myers from Pittsburgh built seven boats for General George Rogers Clark who was William Clark's brother. William Clark was Meriwether Lewis' partner. I have a spotty record that this Myers family might be Spainish New Christian or Catholic. This would be the Myers family of Fort Myers in Lee County Florida. Lee County was named after CSA General Robert E Lee. I am trying to reconstruct the families ties of Robert E lee, JEB Stuart and John Brown at the time of the Raid of Harpers Ferry. I was wondering if any Myers family, who has a solid Dead End someplace near Kansas might want to help me with this. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was the wife of William H Seward III who was the grandson os Secretary of State William H Seward. That is about as Abolitionist as you can get. Elements of this Myers family lived next door to the Banking Mellon/Negley family on Ellsworth Ave in Pittsburgh. Hunter John Myers married Catherine Eberhard and there is a rumor she was related to the Banking Mellon and Frick families of Pittsburgh who were related to Allan Pinkerton of Chicago. Google The Homestead Strike. Hunter John Myers, from Virginia before the Civil War, had 18 children and only one is account for thanks to writer John Esten Cooke. John Esten Cooke was the son of General Phillips St Georges Cooke who was the head of the Mormon Unit in Kansas. The Daughter was married to CSA General JEB Stuart. Again it's a story of Money, Money Bags, Trains, Trains Robbers and Train Guards and they ALL seem to be related to each other. I am sure Butch Cassady and the Sundance Kid were related to George Wilcox when they blew up that train car with a little too much Dynemite containing money in money bags from Mellon Bank guarded by the Pinkertons. There is a very nice picture of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp with Teddy Roosevelt and even Judge Roy Bean taken by Teddy Roosevelt's photographer William Edward Myers. That's no lie!!! It's especially difficult when several family members have similar names. I have a Samuel Bu rton McFerrin son of Burton McFerrin Brother of Benton McFerrin all in the confederate army regiments etc... After doing some verifying someone put together and transcribed things completely wrong making 3 men in one family completely interchangeable. It's so frustrating- I wish people would take as long as it takes to be accurate. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank" <[email protected]> To: [email protected], [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, August 14, 2013 11:33:00 PM Subject: Re: [Myers] Dead end Hi , if you are speaking about Ancestry.com Public Trees they are the most frustrating documents you will ever see - if you let them. If you have to know, the Myers family, who ran with the Youngers, were related to the Pinkertons. Most likey also related to The Sundance Kid from PA. I found a death record that said she died of child bed fever and the following census listed just Jacob and the remaining kids. I don't remember the dates. I'll have to look. That is one of the biggest discrepancies I have come across on whether it is Lydia or sarah. Are records usually this complicated and hard to piece together? Harvey. She was born Oct 1850 in Pennsylvania; on Sept 16 1877, she married John Myers of England at Pine Street United Methodist Church in Williamsport. She went back to England with him, where they had two children (Norris Harvey Myers and Margaret Myers); and they returned to Lycoming County in April of 1888. I would love to know her parents' names, but any information at all that anyone can help me with would be such a blessing. Their daughter Margaret married D. Wilson Lamade, and I only know as much as I do because of the prominence of the Lamade family in Williamsport. The only other piece of information that I have is that Josephine's mother or grandmother's name may have been Sarah Soarch (or Sorch), but that information came from my mother thirty or forty years ago and I don't have any idea if Mom was right. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me! Lisa J Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
