    3. When you wrote from PA it took my attention and I did a search. I expect you know everything I found in my search and the only clue I noticed that might help is I wonder what you know about the 10 year old Esther J. MYERS living with the family in 1860? Mary Celinda died in 1851 and Benjamin remarried shortly thereafter. But that Esther J. MYERS might be clue. Do you think she is actually Esther J. Myers CHANCE and the census taker just got it wrong? It is often the case that the first female child of a second marriage is named after the deceased first wife so that might be the case? What is your thought on that? As for Mary Celinda's parents moving to Indiana before she married Benjamin in 1843. I checked the 1840 census for Franklin County for any MYERS families with a daughter age 10-14 or 15-19 who could have been Mary C. I only found two: an Isaac age 30-40 and Gedeon age 20-29. Couldn't find anything additional on either that would tie them to Pennsylvania where Mary C. was born. 3. Joan, Oh, I wish we could connect on the Myers, which is on my father’s side. About 2 years ago, I asked my brother to do the YDna and he did, which I’m very thankful, as he passed away this year. I have 2 cousin who also had their brother do the YDna and one of those cousins also did the Autosomal with Ancestry and FamilyTree Dna, as I did also. We have our Myers back to VA, early 1800, our brick wall. Jennie > On Jul 8, 2016, at 9:13 AM, Bobbyjo465 via <[email protected]> wrote: > > Joan, > I have DNA Myers my Mother was a Myers. I asked to go in the FTDNA MTDNA Group I have given the kits numbers to all my DNA places. Just to see who I would link up to. I sort of didn't get in for some reason. Really I not sure how the administrators verify anyone in that group. But for anyone wanting to check out to see if we connect. My Gedmatch kits A605848 and M012301, my FTDNA kit is B25630. It sure would be nice to find out where this Myers family DNA wise goes back to. But it seems like it dead ends. I have serious questions about my Myers as far as stories ect. It hard to tell where it leads. If anyone matches my kits please let me know where this line does go back too love to know. Paperwise I can take my Myers in Craig VA and WV. I heard many stories on family. > Billie > > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Jul 8, 2016, at 1:09 AM, Joan Young via <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> AncestryDNA and 23andme also test for the X. 23andme's tools will show you X matches. 3. It is more than a POSSIBLE match if the confidence level is HIGH, EXREMELY HIGH, or even GOOD. It IS a match. You do share DNA that proves you have a common ancestor within a given range of generations given the amount of shared DNA. Moderate confidence matches may or may not be actual ancestry from a common ancestor or might be accidental (inheritance by state vs. inheritance by descent: IBS vs. IBD). Many or mine are "real" but distant and others I cannot say...if we actually match it would be very distant and beyond what I can document. 3. The Ancestry autosomal DNA test tests ALL sides of the family tree. Your matches could be on ANY line in your tree. There is no "tag" on the DNA that tells you where the match is ... but with a bit of detective work and/or a good solid tree you can often figure it out. I have a MYERS 2nd cousin once removed who I match and I also match 5 other descendants of that 2nd cousin's sibling. Our mutual ancestors, Conrad MYERS and wife Maria ZINN, had sons Henry (my great-grandfather) and Charles (my 2nd cousin's grandfather). In addition we have located another match whose tree proves he descends from a daughter of Conrad and Maria MYERS --- Prudence (MYERS) SMITH. Even though Prudence married a "John SMITH" and moved from Pennsylvania to Iowa and Charles MYERS moved from PA to Oklahoma, while my Henry remained in PA, we all still were able to trace our ancestry back to Adams County, PA and DNA connection proved out our tree matches. 3. For my Edward Myers, I had my brother do the YDna with FamilytreeDna. I also joined the Myers project. The more male Myers (paternal line) that test, the better chance for a match. I am (female) a Myers. I did the autosomal with AncestryDna & FamilyTreeDna. I’m still learning how to determine which ancestor/s my matches come from, as it could be on father’s side or my mother’s side. For many of us, DNA is very new and we are learning. Our genealogy group, has a new DNA interest group. > On May 5, 2016, at 9:08 AM, Joan Young via <[email protected]> wrote: > > It is more than a POSSIBLE match if the confidence level is HIGH, EXREMELY HIGH, or even GOOD.
