    1. Update from list admin
    2. Good Evening Everyone, I thought you might be interested in a list update. I haven't done this as frequently as I usually do because work has been keeping me busy. I do apologize for that and will try to do better in the future. Anyway... here goes. At the present time there are 12 folks subscribed to the regular version of the Mundt list and 6 folks on the digest version. Next Monday is Memorial Day and so I thought you might like some information about this "holiday". It really is more than just a "three day weekend"....<g>. Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day and was a day set aside to honor the nation's Civil War dead by decorating their graves. Now, on this day, we honor all those who lost their lives in the service of our country. For information on the day itself you might like to take a look at some of these sites. History Channel - Memorial Day http://www.historychannel.com/exhibits/memorial/index.jsp?page=history United States Department of Veterans Affairs - Memorial Day http://www1.va.gov/opa/speceven/memday/ The Library of Congress American Memory - Memorial Day http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/today/may30.html Interment.com - Memorial Day Column http://www.interment.net/column/records/memorial/index.htm ABC News - Memorial Day History and Tradition http://abcnews.go.com/US/popup?id=774871 Turn on your speakers for this one. Then in terms of American history you might like to look at some of these. History Channel - Timeline of America's Wars http://www.historychannel.com/exhibits/memorial/index.jsp?page=timeline2 Click on the tabs near the top to change centuries. Department of Veterans Affairs - America's Wars http://www.va.gov/pressrel/amwars.htm The Gilder Lehrman Institute Of American History - Listen to recordings of actual letters written during the various wars. http://www.gilderlehrman.org/collection/battlelines/index_good.html National Park Service Civil War Soldiers And Sailor System http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ National WWII Memorial http://www.wwiimemorial.com/ And of course, for a really in-depth list of sites you might like to try Cyndi's list. Cyndi's List - U.S. Military Information http://www.cyndislist.com/military.htm Or... There are many other good sites out there so use your favorite search engine and surf the net. Now....... for the list itself. In honor of Memorial Day how about sharing one of your Mundt "military" brick walls. Someone just might be able to help either with information or a suggestion of where you might go for help. And... finally... as always... if you have any questions about the list contact me at either [email protected] or [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) Take care and have an enjoyable and safe holiday. Emma
