My grandmother, Matilda Agnes Mundt, was born in 1861 in Chicago. Carl, or Charles, worked most of his life in a Chicago tannery called Pfeiffer & Pfeiffer. Emma married W.W. Mittmann. A five years younger sister of Matilda married Paul Fischer. Matilda was a gifted piano player. She could really do justice to Chopin's works.A few of her siblings were performers in the first musical production in Chicago in a historical and controversial play called "The Black Crook". The Mundts' home on Clark Street eventually was torn down and a garage built there . It was the garage where the St. Valentines' Day Massacre occurred. Matilda's oldest son Percy Ford, my dad's older brother, finished third in the Indianapolis "500" Auto Race in 1921. Please write to me,! whether or not you have any reason for doing it..
