Does anyone have information on a Mundt line in Michigan? From what my in-laws have told me, the U.S. Line began with the immigrant Gustav Mundt. He came to the US around 1912 from Russia. He married Anna Rosner and proceeded to create his family in MI. I believe I found his birth record in some St. Petersburg church records, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on other places I could look for information. So far, more current info is scant. Thanks for any help. Good Evening Everyone, I thought this might be a good weekend to send the lists an update. First of all - there are now 12 regular subscribers to the list and 4 subscribers to the digest version. We have had a couple of new folks sign on recently. So you might want to let each other know which Mundt lines you are interested in. Then... I've been thinking - a dangerous occupation for me... <g>. But....... Christmas is approaching. I am wondering if any of you have used Christmas or another family gathering as a chance to share some family history and if so what did you do? One year I printed on linen looking paper a 5-generation pedigree chart and wrapped it like a scroll for everyone at our family Christmas Party. That was a very long time ago - probably 12 to 15 years and I could probably do that again but am wondering if any of you have some other ideas. Thanks and take care - Emma

Good Morning Everyone, I thought you might like an update on the list. At the present time we have 13 regular subscribers and 4 on the digest version. As you meet other Mundt searchers I hope you will tell them about the list and invite them to join. How about posting your major brick wall and perhaps someone might be able to help. If you have solved all your brick walls then why don't you share a favorite search site that might help others on the list. Here is one of my favorite sites........go to www.ancestry.com At the top of the page click on message boards In the "Search the Message Boards" field enter the surname you are interested in. Make sure you enter the surname in all lower case letters as that will pick up all uses of the name. This will search all message boards for any mention of that particular surname. You do not have to be a paying member of ancestry to use this area. Thanks and have a great day - Emma
And... another one... If you haven't tried this site do so. It is terrific. Take care - Emma It is the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System. They seem to have input all the names from all the regimental rosters on both sides of the WBTS. You can search for a specific name or for unit rosters. The URL is http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ . Rosters can be viewed online, or (by using a cut-and-paste technique) saved as an Excel spread sheet.
Hi Everyone, Just thought I would pass this site on. It is new. I looked at it last night. It appears they are still adding data so you might want to check back ever once in a while. Take care - Emma I would like to announce that the Missouri Birth and Death Records Database is available online at http://www.sos.state.mo.us/archives/resources/birthdeath/. This database is the result of the efforts of over 300 volunteers working on this project since 1999. The database currently contains over 185,000 records from 87 counties. The database can also be accessed through the Missouri State Archives' homepage at http://www.sos.state.mo.us/archives/.

I'm sending this to let you know that Rootsweb is deep in the process of upgrading its servers. This is going to continue during the next couple of weeks. >From Rootsweb: "The following resources are currently disabled or will be soon, due to the upgrading: any websites beginning www.rootsweb.com (including our main page), websites on Freepages, RootsWeb Surname List (RSL), Archiver (browsable mailing list archives), and mailing lists on lists3 and lists5 (which will also impact list administrator functions for those lists), and most versions of File Manager (online editors). During the transition, Password Central may show some incomplete listings, especially for Post-em Notes." What does this mean to you? It means that some list mail might be delayed in being delivered (don't worry, it won't get lost - just delayed). It also means that I have limited access to the administrative tools and in some cases cannot help with subscribing and unsubscribing, etc. It is one of those up and down situations. Sometimes things work and sometimes they don't. However, know that they are working as fast as they can to straighten out any concerns. Please hang in there and hopefully this will all be settled soon. Thanks for your patience, Emma
