    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bubbanet143 Surnames: Mulder Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mulder/262.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Ken. Thank you very much for your volunteer work. I'd progressed quite a bit since I originally created this post. Like you, I found a lot of helpful information in the Galveston news papers. Peter and Minnie Mulder had Harry, Maud, and Alois (male). After the divorce, Harry stayed with his mother in Galveston and Peter moved to Warren Texas (with Alois) where he met my GG Grandmother Anna Pislot. Louis was their 1st son. I'm thinking Louis lied about his age to join the military. Later records show him born in 1890. Alois died shortly after they moved to Warren. I'm not sure how or where he is buried. My GG Grandmother Anna Pislot, mentioned "my dear husband and his beloved son Alois" in Peter's obit. No one knew what the meaning of this was until I discovered it was a son from a prior marriage. Peter died in Warren 1900 in a lumber accident. They were about to move to Beaumont where much of my family lives today. Peter is still a mystery. I can find no records on him pr! ior to his marriage to Minnie Heller. Based on his last name of Mulder and birth year 1859, he could have been the son of a civil war solder or potentially a child of the "48'ers". I'm also wondering if he came from Indianola with the Heller's after it was destroyed by 2 back to back hurricanes. Indianola was a popular port for Germans. Harry Mulder lived in Galveston for about 34 years until he divorced Henrietta. I can't find anything on him after that. Again, thank you for your help! Author: KenSlade2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mulder/262.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am a volunteer and not related to this Mulder family. I was not able to find the parents of Peter Mulder. I cannot find him in the 1880 census. I did find P. A. Mulder on Galveston Co. Tax Rolls in 1884 and 1890. I did find a few brief mentions in Galveston newspapers that indicate he and 1st wife Minnie had at least two children who died very young. (articles attached) Aleis? Albert died in 1890 and Maude died in 1885. Peter August Mulder married Minnie Heller 15 Aug 1880 Harris Co. TX. They divorced Feb 1890. The marriage record says F. A. Mulder but I assume that is a mistake. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VXGZ-H9K Parents of Minnie Heller were John Heller and Minnie Peske. Minnie Heller was born 13 May 1862 in Indianola, TX and died 13 Jul 1919 Galveston, TX. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/K386-2RB The divorce record for Peter and Minnie says Peter was awarded custody of male child and Minnie was awarded custody of female child. I assume the male child was Aleis Albert who did not die until July 1890 and the female child was Maude who died in 1885. (see below) What about the son "Harry" and the son "Louis"? Known children of Peter A. Mulder and Minnie Heller: Aleis Albert Mulder, born abt. 1880; died 10 Jul 1890 (not sure of first name) article attached Harry Mulder, born 8 Jul 1884? (listed as surviving son in Minnie's 1919 obit) Maude Mulder, born abt. 1884; died 8 Aug 1885 (at age 17 months) article attached Louis Mulder, born 25 Oct 1888 Galveston TX I am wondering if Harry and Louis could be the same person (possibly Louis Henry or Henry Louis)? The attached obit for Minnie Heller Mulder Fisher lists only "Harry Mulder" as surviving son. I know that "Harry" was still living in 1921. He sued his wife Henreitta for a divorce in 1920. Harry and Henreitta were married 28 Aug 1908 and lived together until 10 Jan 1918. 1910 Galveston Co. TX Henry Mulder Head M 22 Texas Henriette B Mulder Wife F 21 Kansas I found the 1918 WWI draft registration for a "Harry Albert" Mulder (attached). Harry says he was born 8 Jul 1884. I think 1884 is a mistake. I believe he was born later. He lists Mrs. Minnie Fisher as his mother on the form. Seems odd his middle name would be "Albert" if Peter and Minnie had a son named "Albert" who died in 1890. I found WWI draft registration for Louis Mulder that says he was born 25 Oct 1888 in Galveston TX. He says he is married with 1 child. He was living in Jacksonville, Cherokee Co. TX and working in Beaumont. (Louis gives same birthdate on WWII draft registration). Louis Mulder married Kate Green 18 Aug 1912 in Rusk, Cherokee Co. George's parents are both from Germany originally, but immigrated to the Netherlands (so the family name was originally Muller or Moller). He married Leona Collins there and had two children with her. He passed in 1917 and is buried in Portsmouth. His name is sometimes misspelled as "Gurney" in some documents. It appears a couple of other Mulders made the move to Norfolk around the same time as Ghurnie Lee; a Thos. L., T. Luke and Wm. J. are found on his same street in the telephone directories in the early 1900s. I'd like to find out more about his family. I believe his parents were William Jackson and Cornelia (Jenkins) Mulder. It appears the Mulders were very connected with the Jenkins and the Futrells in Northampton County. I have found lots of clues but would appreciate any help in researching this line and/or learning about life in 19th century Northampton County for any of these families. Thank you.
