    1. Re: Browns in and around Butte
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Brown Warrington Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VNB.2ACE/593.3.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: My grand-uncle Harold E. Brown has family-by-marriage in North Dakota, and one with whom I'd been in contact suggested Harley E. was born in Ohio - and now you've confirmed it. Leanne, I can't thank you enough for getting me past the Harley E. hurdle! Harley E. moved from Montana in 1913, to work in Saskatchewan - not surprisingly as a pressman. I know he attended the School of Mines in Butte, which opened in 1900 - so it's possible he was there between 1900 and 1902, when he's listed as a pressman in the directory you mentioned. I wasn't able to narrow down the hunt for Harley E. with the information you provided, but using the information for Mary Warrington I did a search in the 1880 census for an Ohio family in which the father is from Ohio and the mother, Pennsylvania. I had only two hits: David A. and Mary I. Warrington and Charles and Carrie Warrington, both families in Salem, Ohio. Though my Mary wasn't born until @ 1885, it's conceivable that she's a child of one of these families (probably the former). I won't be able to make that determination unless I can dig into the 1890 census. In both cases, there were other family members living in those houses - a father in one and a mother-in-law in the other - so if these turn out to be family, you have me on a roll. Also, on Rootsweb I was able to find a John R. Warrington - who happens to have two sons names David (who married Mary I. Morland) and Charles; John R. was born in Damascus, Ohio, a small town only minutes west of Salem (and I mean 'minutes' by wagon; it's seconds by car). So as you can see, Leanne, your generous assistance has very possibly fired my off in a direction that may have direct-line family for me (and my uncle) in New Jersey in the mid-1600's. I know I shouldn't jump the gun, but this is the first real, concrete new information I've had in more than a year. If there's anything you need from Ontario, Canada please let me know - I'll try to return your favour. /\\ike
