IGNATIUS - William R. "Bill" Kelly, 67, St. Ignatius, died Tuesday in Billings while visiting his son, Bill. He was born July 14, 1913, in St. Ignatius, where he attended school. After graduating from high school he opened the Kelly Chevrolet Garage in St. Ignatius. He also operated the Conoco gas station and received an award from Conoco for representing the company for 45 years. He married Muriel Goble on June 23, 1934, in Thompson Falls. Mr. Kelly was active in community affairs. He was chairman of the Project Survival campaign to keep the St. Ignatius hospital open, and served on the City Council for a while. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 112, St. Ignatius, Scottish Rite Bodies of Missoula; the senior citizens group and the chamber of commerce. Besides his son, survivors include his wife, St., Ignatius; two daughters, Kay Brownlee, Gildford, and Jude Coade, Sicamous, British Columbia; a brother, Jack, Bozeman; three sisters, Peg Jobes and Mary Rumberg, both in Florida; and Esther Oertle, in Arkansas; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Munson-Young officiating. The Masonic Lodge will be in charge of graveside services at the Pleasantview Cemetery in St. Ignatius. The casket will be closed. The family suggests that memorials be made to the St. Ignatius Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fearon Funeral Home in St. Ignatius.
