He was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Sauk Center, Minn., to Walter and Ramona Schriver. The family moved to Green Bay, Wis., where he attended grade school and high school. There, he met his high school sweetheart, Jean Hazen. They married Nov. 4, 1950, at St. Peter and Paul's Church in Green Bay and moved to Missoula shortly thereafter. Dick worked for Community Creamery, Garden City Motors, Ace Plumbing and later retired from Thomas Plumbing. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and was an avid fisherman, camper and hunter, especially enjoying the pursuit of "mountain chickens" and "Montana marlin." He also loved his sports along with the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Braves but above all were his beloved schnauzers, Hans and Fritz. Dick was a "people person." He loved to share stories and swap a few lies. With a great sense of humor, this loving father taught his three daughters to fish and hunt and clean his fish and birds. Survivors include his wife, Jean; three daughters, Ann Talalotu and her husband Pot of Frenchtown, Kathy Braddock and her husband Mark of Missoula and Janie Talalotu and husband John of Kalispell; grandchildren, Jennifer, Lani, Tasha, Tane, Jesse, Leah, Joey, Bo and Tony; great-grandson, Happy; his mother, Ramona of Missoula; two sisters, Jean Ann Flink and husband Kenny of Butte and Joyce Stevens and husband John of Missoula; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his father, Walt; a brother, David; and a sister, Marilyn. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, followed by a reception at 18500 Sorrel Springs in Frenchtown. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Humane Society, 1105 Clark Fork Drive, Missoula, MT 59808. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory. ---------------------------- Please note that these obituaries have been posted as a courtesy only.
